Default Xmods Rally Car project

So as you may have seen in my modification thread, I was gathering Ideas for my Rally Car.

So far this is my current status:

Body-STi

Chassis-Street Chassis.

Visuals:
C.F hood (from Body Kit)
Disc Brakes

Suspension and Steering
Grey Shocks
Medium Springs
Custom 7mm suspension increase. (Thanks Dreaming is drifting)
Raising Arms
4.5 Degree Tie Rod

Drive-Train
R.S AWD Drive Shaft and corresponding gears
Ball Bearing front differential
Aluminum Dog-bones W/ Axels x4
Sealed Bearings

Motor/Gearing:
AWD lll Motor
12-23 Gear Ratio

Electronix:
V2 Motor turbo from X.I
Motor wires directly soldered to ports on the board
R.S Rechargeable AAA's

Wheels and Tires:
STi Rims W/ Custom Rally Tires (thanks 4 the Idea)
Zone Z1 Rims With Custom Studs

So Thats What I've Got so far. I'd Say it's about 75% done.
I drove it on the ice last night. My custom studded wheels are amazing!
I'll explain the studs if I'm asked to. BUT what I really need Ideas for is A lightweight chassis protection system. I can't seem to find any thin lexan. What should I do?

P.S.
Comments on the Parts list Is welcomed.

Wow, Subby Rally Cars! Sounds good.
Would love to see some pics, or better yet, a video of it on the ice!

Dude, Lexan is everywhere man, how can you not find any? Its used in all the xmod upgrade packaging, a lot of other electronic packaging, toys, lots of stuff! , basically its just that thin plastic film that everyone hates to cut or rip open. If all else fails you can use an Ice-cream lid for the 1 gallon buckets. But if you cant get your hands on any of these PM me, I can probably whip something up for cheap.
You might also want to change batteries, but you dont really have to, just that the standard RS ones really limit performance.
BTW, pics= much appreciated

technically speaking, that's not lexan. lexan is a polycarbonate high-impact plastic that is typically pretty expensive for good quality sheet. the plastic you're describing is either cheap acrylic-based plastic, or some similar cheap stuff. it was never meant to be high impact or have any structural integrity.

i also doubt that using RS rechargeables will matter too much since this isn't really that much of a serious racer. more of a just-for-fun rally car.

may bad...... =( but the batteries I speak from my own experience when i first got the RS batteries they would last for about 15minutes and would lack torque and only lasted for about a month, maybe I just got a bad pair?

They are just old. Pop em in the freezer for 24 hours, then let it stand room temp for another 24 hours b4 charging.

They stopped making them after the Gen 1's. They just repackaged the Gen 1's with better looking bluish cardboard backing and reshelved.

Default Time for Pics

Please Forgive the Pic Size I am still working out the Kinks
Okay, so the first pic is of the car with stock tires. take note of the clearance.

This Is the Pic with the custom Rally Tires. Now look at the clearance!

This Pic was Me testing it in the snow. Ain't she Pretty!

Now this is my chassis. You'll Notice that there is electrical tape on the front clip. Thats because the Ports for the screws broke on the chassis, not the clip(thank goodness) Just take a look at the upgrades so far.

What do you guys think?

Also I Need Mirrors VERY Badly.

Okay, Let me preface this video with this. First of all, Forgive my narration, second, I get stuck because of foot print holes. otherwise it's cool. Also prior to testing this out, I tried it with another car of mine (not built for rally) just to make sure that my STi was special and it was. The other car did'nt even move. I am using my custom rally tires in this video, not the studs. So i spin out a few times, but just see for yourself....

Make sure that you click the video. it will bring you to photo-bucket.

Pics and video of the Studded tires will come later today.
