Default XXX: Project RC18R GTZ

Hey Yall..!! I had mentioned in another thread I was going to get a 1/10 TB03... Well I decided instead to bring my old RC18R back to life. I just put most of it back together, but it is missing a lot of parts becasue I have used my 18R as a donor for Xmod builds.. It is missing a couple camber links and 3 ball links, 1 dogbone, the diff was hacked up, the ESC and RX were used in (If you remember) XXX: Project "Make your guesses" from like 2 years ago, one of the shocks is no good, and the servo was used on an Xmod conversion.

So I just ordered re-placement parts for the simple stuff .. dogbone, camber/ball links.. etc, etc. Then I was in need of a better body so I ordered the niteline body (factory painted)... then I stumbled across the Exotek GTZ body... F'n SWEET.. so I ordered that, along with the Exotek CF extended Chassis...

So for internals, I had to work with a budget (Money was getting slim) so I opt'd for some lower end stuff, but going through some reviews.. they were workable units.. HELP ME DECIDE...

THIS...
http://cgi.ebay.com/EZRun-Combo-A1-1...item2a0bab2361

OR THIS...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

And I am going to get this RX
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I believe that is about it.. I ordered the replacement parts the Exotek chassis and GTZ body.. I just need to decide on the RX,ESC,Motor. BUT ill be building the chassis up while I wait.

Thanks a lot guys... for the help. I guess Im going to go with the EZRUN on-road brushless system. Thanks a lot.

Do you need a particuler Servo for use with a 2.4ghz RX.. or it doesn't matter.... Wasn't sure if you can still use the same servos or needed a special 2.4ghz or brushless compatible one.

Good choice on the EZrun.
I have a few of them.
According to there manual they are water and dust-proof, although I haven't tested that yet.

I'll be turning my spare RC18 parts into an RC18R to run with my Xray M18.
I also plan on using the GTZ body, it's definitely the nicest 18R body available.
Can't wait to see this project done, keep us posted.

Small update.. got my EZ-RUN in the mail today.. Can't really do anything with it until I get the chassis built.

Most of the other parts should be here tommorrow or Friday.. then I get to build.

It is pretty sweet.. It took awhile but wasnt to hard to get together.. Exotek provided good instructions which usually isnt the case with these kind of kits. It was missing 2 screws but i made thru.

An Update, and I have some questions for anyone using the EZ-Run or who is a brushless, 2.4ghz EXPERT.

Got all the electronics in.

Painted the wheels RED.. I have new Black wheels on the way.

Finished the body, Murdered in out with all Black, since Im a big fan of that look and mostly because Im to much of an amatuer painter to anything more eleborate without ruining it. LOL

And here she is... HOT.

Okay, here is my question... Im having some problems with my EZ-Run.. I have it all set up, the 2.4ghz RX is bound to the TX, and I initiated (bound) the EZ-Run to the TX.. It runs great for about 20 seconds, then it cuts off, and when I pull the trigger it just gets a quick burst and won't run, so once that happens it only goes like 3 inches forward then stops everytime I pull the throttle. Sometimes if I let it sit for a minute, then it will run again then after 20 seconds it does the same thing. I re-programmed it, turning off any shut offs like for over heat or low battery.. and still the same thing.. Any ideas.. The instructions says either throttle signal is lost, check wires.. or the ESC went into low voltage shut off (Which I disabled) and I know the voltage is good.. Could it be a faulty capacitor sucking the battery power.. ????????? I want to play with my 18R.. HELP !!!!!!!!!

recheck the low voltage cutoff, cause it sounds like it's that.
