XXX: Building the ULTIMATE EVO.

A little bit of work done today...about 15 minutes worth. Wasn't into doing anything after work.

Well got 2 packages today.

First was the Purple ebay Stilletto, Rims, flanged lock nuts.


Some pictures of what she should look like in the end with the body.

Second was the box of Xmod stuff my Father gave me to build this car for him. Lots o' goodies.

boo hiss about the cold heat though.......****ed bettery powered paperweights....

too bad there isn't someone in the hobby that annodizes aluminum.....hint hint.
it would be real nice to get the purple a bit darker.

Yeah, the cold heat is junk. I told him to keep it, but I guess he wanted to get rid of it too. LOL. Crazy you mention the anodizing.... I have been online researching DIY anodizing at home. Seems pretty easy to set-up... there's alot of stuff on the net for setting up in the garage. Don't think Ill be messing with it on this project though.

Yeah, I got them from ebay, I love this style. Did you get them there too?

Yeah, but I believe it has the stock suspension in the pack because he already installed it on the Camero. I have to check again, but I believe that's the case. But it was pretty even seeing has that all the parts to build the "Ultimate Evo" cost about $300.00 ... I in actuallity, he just gave me this stuff cuz he's my Daddy..LOL, I told him I would build the car in exchange.

Im building him the "Ultimate Evo" which the thread is for. But like I said it wasn't a normal trade or anything, He was going to give me this stuff becuase he never really messes with it... I told him I would build him this Ultimate Evo..Firebird to play with.

OH YEEEEEEEEEEAAH !!!!!!!!

Got some parts in today. I can't wait to get this guy built. Im still waiting on some stuff here is a list, I ordered it all but it just ain't arrived yet:
-GPM front gear case cover (Purple)
-GPM front knuckles (Silver)
-GPM rear axle stubs (Purple)
-Ball bearings set
-RV Projects PCB

But here's what came today:


Also, I have been working different ideas for the front servo/gear case. Here I tried the Dye approach with a scrap part. I dyed it with "RIT" fabric dye. There was a tutorial on it for RC parts on google.... I gave it a shot with purple... I am going to try it again with black and see how that turns out. I will also re-dye this one to darken it up and see how it turns out then.

Those rims are awesome! The only thing that bugs me is the fact that the tires look a little too small...

Well, I did as much assembly as I could for now... You know the darn Shocks don't come with the screws to mount them, Ill have to find some for them.

Messed with the cover a bit.... Not sure if Ill go with this narrower version or my original that covered the batteries.




I started making this cover, not sure If ill use it, but Im messing around right now..... I started going this route because Im trying to find away to hide the motor and power wires, which are on the wrong side and will have to go all the way across the chassis... That is what the over hang on the rear end of the cover is for. The wires would route under it. Again...Im not sure Ill use it, because I think it looks better with the PCB visible....

It's a very clean setup, cleanest I've seen in awhile. It might look better visible, but keep in mind the dust, and junk that the tires sling up into the chassis might be conductive or something and easily touch the PCB and fry it. Then again, it's quite far fetched but function over form. Maybe paint/dye the peice purple or something to make it blend more.

Just ideas. A great build none-the-less.

Well, It will definatly be painted when it is finished.... Im just not sure on exact design yet, Im kinda messing around and seeing what I come up with. Ideas are welcome.

So, Ive still been messing around with ideas... Like I said before the servo case and blah blah. So here was somthing else I came up with..... I chopped the rearend of the servo case off and filled it in with putty and made this new servo case....for a micro servo. Still mocking it up and need to finish some putty and stuff, ........ what do you think of this, Im not sure ill use it or not, Bondo is painting a servo case black for me right now and I may just go with that for the Ultimate Evo...and save this for the Dragster or somthing else...
