How to make a case organizer
Have you ever had your items jumbled around in your XMODS R/C plastic case? For some odd reason, Radioshack neglected to give you some organizers, so your contents always seem to get mixed up when you carry your case. This tutorial should remedy that.
This tutorial (should) teach you how to make a simple organizer for your XMODS R/C plastic storage case. It proves very handy when you are on-the-go or making a permanent storage compartment for parts. You will need: -XMODS plastic case -Styrofoam, Cardboard, or other similar material Note: Do not use glue on Styrofoam, it will melt it, like PB Blaster. Step 1 Gather your materials and open the case. Grab one of your pieces and place it in the position you want it. You will need to carefully break off the excess, using hands or scissors. (hands are best for Styrofoam) Step 2 Carefully press your piece in, (cardboard and Styrofoam will become unusable very easily if broken or bent) You may need to remove more. However, if you have taken off to much, you can use small bits of your material to fill in the gaps and make a tight seal, so no little screws, nuts, or etc. escape. Step 3 Now, repeat the steps to create more organizers, and then add your items. Notes: -The taller your pieces are, the less likely your contents are to get jumbled. -Do not use any glues on Styrofoam, it is likely that it will melt. -Enjoy your organized case!

Killer idea. i like it. and for the price you cant beat it... But seriously...
TOOL BOX. you'll get WAAYYY more junk in a tool box and its stronger and more sturdy than the weak xmod case. i know when i drop those they bust open and normally break. My tool box just gets a few scuffs and is ready to rock with out droppin a single screw |

While that is true, you can use taller materials to prevent that from happening. (It would reach up to the top of the case when closed) If you did this, it would be fine, and since when do you shake your XMODS case intentionally? LOL Thats why I put that in the notes...it's cheap, so it's not perfect, but it works fine as is for storage and separation of parts if it's permanent storage your after. Thanks for input.

sorry for 2x post, but I couldn't figure a way to quote you w/o making a second post. You are very correct in saying a tool box will beat this a million to one, but it proves useful if you want to have a few too many parts...And if you're almost done with organizing your parts and don't have any more space in your PLANO box...and you don't want to go to Wal-Mart to pick up a box...thanks for your input...the main idea of this was to make a cheap organizer and get some tut points on XI!LOL

to do a multiple quote post.. you see the button right next to the quote button with the + and " sign on it? click that untill it turns orange, click that on as many post as you want to quote, then when you have em all, click quote on the last post you want to quote and it will take you to the post a reply screen with all the messages you quote. then you just have to responde to them...
on another note. Use hot glue to hold your foam into place it shouldnt melt the foam. i hightly doubt elmers glue would melt the foam either. |

if you use cardboard, you can make part-specific slots like tire slots and motor slots, and maybe cardboard fasteners for your xmod so it doesn't move around when you pick it up
