Project: APR G35 Widebody Resurrected!!
Okay so here is the link to the original thread when this project began http://www.xmodsource.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14164 .
Alot happened in my personal life so this project was put on hold. I decided to go back at it from a different anngle this time. At first I was using putty to mold the widebody kit and it was lousy!! Alot of sanding, crumbling, and it was ridiculously heavy...so I ripped off all of the putty and started from square one. After doing alot of reserach, I decided to attempt the widebody kit out of styrene. I am using .4mm styrene sheets and 1.68x2.29mm styrene sticks (strips). Here is what i've got so far: Here it is cleaned up and ready for the body work. The stance shown here is pretty accurate as to how it will sit when complete. I began by glueing the styrene sticks along the edge of the wheel wells to serve as a guide for the styrene sheet widebody fenders. Here it sits with the styrene sheets added to the front fenders and the styrene sticks glued to the rear fenders for guides. Let me know what you think. I will update this thread once some more progress is made. I'm a single parent and work for a living so don't expect anything super fast!

I can't take credit for the idea. Somewhere after hours of sifting through threads on here and xmf, I came across a thread where someone mentioned making a widebody kit using small pieces of styrene. I figured I would give it a shot since I happened to have alot of styrene laying around that wasnt being used. Once the basic form is made out of styrene, I will probably use a very thin layer of putty to smooth things out where needed. We'll see how it turns out!

UPDATE...while I wait on my putty that I ordered to arrive. This is the basic widebody kit laid down with styrene. Some sanding will need to be done and tweaking with putty to smooth and even things out, but here's weher she's at for now. Kind of at a stand still until the putty shows up. Had to order it because none of the shops around here have milliput or tamiya...
Comments, criticism, opinions all welcome!

Thanks man! Still pretty much up in the air on colors so far...have thought of everything from pearl white to some crazy metallic orange or lime green drifter colors. Not really sure as of yet though. Maybe i'll have a better idea once it all comes together.

Thanks Dr! I have used gap filling CA glue to fill in the gaps. Am i going in the right direction by thinking putty is what I need to smooth everything out and in with the original body of the car? This is really my first crack at this so i'm kinda figuring it all out as i go.
