Default New toy

Here's a few picks of my new toy. 1979 Chevy Caprice Classic 2dr. 350 ci, TH 350 trans w/shift kit. and 3:73 Posi. Interior needs a little TLC and the paint is in decent shape for a repaint in '87.

Awesome car!
I am SO jealous! When I was a kid we had a 79 Impala Landau. Wish I still had that car.

Thanks guys...This one doesn't get driven everyday. The Escort in the background of the 2nd pic is my beater. Once the first snow hits the ground it goes in the garage, and won't see the road till after the first heavy rain in spring. I would like to convert to FI, though the Performer carb runs perfect. It needs polyurethane bushings all the way around. Like I said before, the interior needs some work. Jimmy...nice Imp! I always liked the front valance on the Impalas. I looks like it might have lows miles judging by the brake pedal. (I could be wrong)

yeah the miles are lower. it has about 80k now, it has 50k when I got it. I drove it threw a few Michigan winters, it has zero rust when I got it. I kick my self all the time over that one.

FYI the frames on these are near identical to the last body style of b-bodies. For example my car has 94-96 Impala SS eibach lowering springs, KYB shocks, rear lower trailing arms for a caprice c91, with big heavy duty sway bars. I will tell you what you can make these things handle like they are on rails.

Wow! That is a beautiful Caprice! We've had one in our family forever it seems, it was my grand daddy's, then it got passed down through the generations and is still alive and well today...I think it's just there as a spare. All the times I looked at that car and I never saw what yours looks like....dare I say, sporty? Either way nice ride, and I really like the wheels, paint looks pretty nice too!

Jimmy: thanks for the heads up. I was unaware of the frame config being that close, that opens up the options for suspension. Right now mine has the "police package" sway bars from another car and that made a world of difference.

Greenday: thanks man. I feel the same...sporty, and I feel the back window has a lot to do with that. On the downside, being a 3 year only option between the Caprice/Impala bodies finding a replacement (should anything happen to that one) is not going to be fun. The wheels are off an '87 Monte Carlo.

aha! I knew that, just didn't click. Ours was that awful peel-off-in-a-year grey, and the cloth top is long gone...and you're right that back window makes a big difference, I thought it looked kinda different from ours. Kinda like the Aero Coupe SS Monte Carlos.
