From what I've read over the years, Lipo is better as it has a better "punch" to it. Due to a higher discharge rate I believe, I'm not exactly sure.

depends on what u want.. li ion is safer. less fragile
lipo is more dangerous, fragile
i may be wrong, but lipo provides more discharge and voltge which is good, cause u get more torque and speed

PLEASE ! Read all the warning signs and take extra steps to protect you and your family from a possible fire. A single lipo battery can burn an entire house down. I'm not trying to scare you off them, but I would hate for you to be injured due to improper use.

I've had both, actually im using lipo now, and I do like lipo better because it has a higher maH so its good for drifting.also, i havent had any bad experiences with it*knocks on wood* but i've heard that overcharging or something else could make the batteries explode!!

Lithium Polymer is better in performance, packaging and maybe weight (depending on cell configuration). But, the horror stories about them are true and do happen. So, they take more 'baby sitting' and precaution. But, when taken care of, they are safe and very effective.

Sort of like and old sports car. With out the right kind of care and attention it won't hesitate to put you into a wall.

You just need to buy a decent / expensive charger, that will have all the functionality you need to keep you safe, if you go with a cheap eBay charger for example then the stories mentioned above could happen to you....

Lipo is better but when talking about an Xmod I suggest li-ion. It is a bit cheaper, safer and you can get flat liths for stock evo configuration or AA for gen1 or stilletto configuration, you can save a lot of $$ on a charger... And mostly you probably won't really notice any difference. The thing is the car will be so fast that it will be hard to control anyway, so you won't be able to go full throttle or anything. Just go with li-ion, save the lipo for high grade RC cars if you like. That is the best advice I can give... Li-ion will shock and amaze you and you will be far from dissappointed. No need for lipo on an xmod unless you just want to say you have it.

Ok, I have another question about this - how long do these Lipo batteries last from a full charge and what is the lifespan of them compared to AAA's?

it will be either 2 x 400mah or 2 x 500mah, thanks for your input - 30 mins sounds good.

Anyone who has been using Lipo's for a while - can you input on how long they last ie. the lifespan (not the charged runtime) - thx.
