Default Mine's GT-R (hopefully lol)

Alright my other TC rally project is being put on hold due to technical difficulties, so it's now time for me to start the work on my '08 GT-R. Now I am avid fan of Nissan and mainly the Skyline series. Now as soon as I saw the GT-R evo I had to have it, and now that it's gotten beat to, well, hell. Now if you, like me, are an avid Skyline fan you will know of the great performance company known as Mine's!

Now on to the point, my poor little monster of a GT-R has taken a few too many hits and scrapes and I feel it's time to give it a well deserved clean up and "tune" up. So I plan to take it from this:

to this.

I've really beat this thing up lol and was attempting to do some drifting before hand so the wheels don't match.
Just some specs on the car.
-Evo Street chassis
-Suspension upgrade
-Stage 2 motor
-Rear GPM axles/dogbone combo.
-Lowered body
-"Drift" tires

And my favorite set of batteries I have ever owned.

Duracell NiMH Rechargeable 1000mAh 1.2v

Alright just to get an update.

Alright for my birthday I bought a "nice" model car, unfortunately it really isn't that great of a model. Also I forgot to check the size of the model and wound up getting a 1/24 scale instead of a 1/25 scale. So I had the intentions of changing this project into a '56 Bel Air xmod that I was going to enter into the COTM contest but that might not happen now.

Here is the model.

On a better note I did manage to buy a new Spray gun and some nice enamel paint to paint my GT-R (and possibly the model). It is a Badger 250-2, though I may need to buy an adapter to fit the hose to my dad's compressor. The paint is Testers in Dark Red and White. I want to do a Mine's replica but now that I'm thinking about that nice dark red might look really nice .

My new spray gun and the paint.

Hopefully all goes well, and I might still try to use the Bel Air body but it may be too big to be of any use besides a model/first paint job car. I may go back is I get a little more birthday and get a Monte Carlo or Yenko Cevelle but I'll have to check the model size next time .

Hate to post three in a row but here is another update to my car.

Alright I painted the chassis to make it a little more "racy" .

I could try to explain it but pictures do that better.

I'm still debating what to put on the empty spot on the board cover. It's the street chassis so with the fixed xtal, the covering over it makes the perfect spot to do a little bit of custom painting . I did some of the pieces with some cheap acrylic paint so it looks a bit choppy in spaces but it all gets hidden by the top anyways.

My uncle has printed me up the vinyls for the car, so I just have to wait for them to get here. I might paint it tomorrow, but with just rattle can since I don't have an adapter for the hose on my gun yet.

I'm really digging that red and white. It looks pretty clean together.

Well every one knows red makes you car go faster , and I've always liked the red red with white combo.

Default It's been STORMTROOPED!

Well it's been a while, but I finally got an update for this project.

My Uncle still hasn't sent me the decals for the car yet but I went a head and painted it. Unfortunately I still haven't gotten the adapter for my spray gun yet so I had to paint it with some cheap rattle can Wal-Mart paint.

Anyways as far as paint goes, it's been STORMTROOPED!! The whole white car with black accessories (rims, windows, lips etc etc.) It's a little sloppy but I like it.

I lost that beautiful GT-R logo.

Of course after I painted it i started to look at it and like it without all the decals on it and I think I might keep it this way and instead try to find another GT-R body (possibly a mizi-z one) and do that one as the Mines GT-R but with the lip and canards. I'm also doing a driving video right with it. It's not going to be a drifting video but a street driving one, maybe I can bust out my dads gen1 Civic since he hasn't used it since he put my extra evo motor into it.

Default Need some opinions please

So I have the '08 GT-R and I just painted it white and now it looks "stormtrooped" but I'm thinking about painting a couple of other spots on the car black just to make it stand out a bit more.
Here it is right now

Now I'm thinking about doing the hood, middle section of roof, and middle section of the spoiler in black. Otherwise thinking the hood painted black along the body lines of the car and just the middle of the spoiler. Either way I'm doing the middle of the spoiler but torn on what else to do so that it doesn't just look like a plain white GT-R, I figured the lot of you would have some good suggestions.

And on just one final note, do you guys thing it would be too ricey if I did a Stormtrooper silhouette on the side of the car to make it look more like a tricked out drifter?

Check this out.... Just the hood and around the bottom of the body.. and top of the spoiler.. NOT the top of the car.

Yeah I kept trying to imagine it with the black top and it just didn't feel right at all. I've already got the black lip all the way around so next will be to paint the hood and spoiler.

Default Got the black on

I got the black on and did a few touch ups since I drove it pretty hard while doing some filming. I literally just sprayed the clear on and now just have to wait the 10 min for it to dry and then see if I need to fix any rough spots on the clear.
Here it is without the clear

I got about another 7 or 8 minutes til the clear is done so it shouldn't be too much longer before I have the clear posted in this thread and my other Mine's GT-R thread since it's been changed.

Nah just some acrylics since that all I have, but with the clear coat it comes out rather nice and glossy, the A-arm pillars and actually the windows on my TC were all done with it.

Sorry for the double post but here it is cleared.

Some of the scuffs and little marks are from before I painted the hood and spoiler, I was doing some filming outside which is another thing for you guys to look forward to.
