lmsaubermercedes02.jpg[/IMG]

from this photo, you can see a few things,
1) the front ends uses a x-mod like suspension system
2) the interior of the servo has moved forward to make room for the batteries
3) the battereis have moved inward a bit to allow narrower bodies
4) the body clip attachment "hinge" is straight compare to mr02

well there you have it the new mr-02

It looks like they've mounted the motor higher up, I wonder how that will affect the COG and/or wheel hop on turns?

The front suspension does look like the gen1 xmod...

I wonder why they are still using a live axle design vs IRS?

yes i will affect cog and in turn make it hop more but as we hope this is a protype and hope that this is fixed

and the front suspension is called double a arm system
they made it for the mr-02s
as you can see here the has a under mount spring

I was talking about the rear on my suspension comment, seams like it would be finer tuned with an indepent rear suspension.

The motor is what bothers me, seams like a step backwards.

btw if you look at the the motor it has that glue on it like the xmods weird

The motor is actually mounted like the MR-02s, just that one prototype pic is of the cooper MR-03 chassis. The normal MR-03 chassis will look like the last pic in the first post.

Well.......the search button worked. I searched to see if anyone already made a thread about the new MR03, and well yup.

OK, here is my bit. It's from reflexracing.net ... Notice the animation at the end of the article... it shows that the chassis configuration can accomodate all the Z setups. Should be a BA ride.

I just looked at that last night on kyosho's north american website and from what I saw there that is going to be a super BA ride and they have a small demo of how much different this car is compared to earlier models. Wonder how long before XXX gets one and tricks it out. In any case this is one I can't wait to see.

Honestly I think the main point is a) stock ability to have either a wide or a narrow front end and b) ability to use true MR15 narrow bodies with 02's stability. Whoever likes their wide race bodies can honestly skip this $180 premium, but as for me- this is EXACYLY what I'm looking for in a Z chassis.

What are your complaints about the current one?

Well, I'm sure the guys who made it are much better at designing R/C cars than me so for one who knows if my opinions are feasible, any better, or have negative drawbacks or not. I'm certain a lot of thought went into the chassis design.

I'd say that lower center of gravity would be on the top of my list.

Lol so just say that. It doesn't matter who designed it if some racers will have complaints. I'd personally wonder if xmod gen 1 awd layout would be better given the quality build Kyosho would do. Weight won't really be lower, but at least it would be even on both sides. I also remember reading others saying that an unbalanced side weight is better for AWD platforms.

I'm sure its better for ALL platforms in general.

Well, since you put it that way I guess I'll disregard all physical limitations etc.

1. lower center of gravity
2. Built in laydown crystal adapter (seriously no excuse for this)
3. replaceable front lower knuckle holder
4. Easier to change rear springs (I have to remove 6 screws now)
5. better chassis balance
6. Stronger chassis stock
7. Lighter chassis.

Thats the bulk of it for me.

In all honesty 03 won't really replace the 02 since it proved itself as a worldwide competitive chassis so just work yours and sharpen your skills using it.
