Here are the pics out of the box and my first mod, along with a receiver pic.

The first mod:

I cut the clear center driveshaft cover so i wouldn't have to move the motor and fix my gear mesh every time i wanted to clean it or let it dry out after a snow run.

yea im pretty sure its waterproof.. but i read somewhere on BL motors being non-waterproof? im not sure on that one..

They're waterproof, as long as the reciever is in that watertight box. Everything else is waterproof.

Thanks guys. Yes the electronics are water proof. The receiver is not but is in a water proof box. Brushless motors are waterproof. Like all motors it puts more load on the motor when in water, and has a risk of burning up the motor.

You are right to a certain point. Brushless motors are not waterproof completely. They are more so water resistant. Brushed motors can run all day in water, which is also how some people break them in. Brushless motors on the other hand can not be broken in in water. Sensored BL motors are not water proof due to the sensors, Sensorless BL motors are more water friendly.

As for motors running in water, when we motor builders make a new motor, we break it in IN water. we actually run the motor inside water. BUT, in distilled water, normal water has elements like carbon which in short burn up the motor.
But I don't think there is actually a way of running a car underwater without actually messing up the battery. It'd be pretty tough to make the battery waterproof.

Brushed motors are broken in, in water. disitlled like tayyab mentioned. When running any motor in water it puts stress on the parts and shouldn't be run like a submarine. Yes gearhead some parts of the motor are not like some sensered motors.

Blade: you should pick one up, lots of fun. The Slayer is nitro and i'm not really looking into nitro. Most of the places around me will run electric all year round. not to mention parts support and it comes with better stuff.

Yes it does and the battery stinks. 8 minutes of runtime. Check traxxas' website for everything it comes with. Or the above pics. Above pics are out of the box and just my cover mod.

Update:

I just felt like weighing things. The battery plays a part in the suspension setup, so i when i get new batteries i want a close weight other wise i can use preload spacers for correct ride height.




377 grams, 107 grams

Next i made a snow guard to help with all the snow in the chassis, made out of velcro and some clear plastic cut to the shape of the body and a hole so i can turn the esc on and off. blocked about 50-60% percent of the snow, helped with drying time.





Next is just some gear pictures for a member on another forum and showing that the drive shaft is hollow.

I need to look into a stainless steel screw kit, several screws are rusting, no matter how well i protect and dry them.

Rusting screws? I better check mines too. Mines just gets wet from wetgrass, think it'll be fine?

Update:

Well i did a little mod. Using some silver paint. I think it looks a lot better and more realistic.









Once Tower hobbies gets the rcscrewz kit instock, i'll order that through my lhs and probably some other things, maybe some springs, because the rear axle stubs bend because of the rear progressive rate springs. They say Losi XXX-T (2.5 and 2 inches) springs will fit.

When install the screw kit i may just die the chassis and do the drive shaft mod( put electrical tape and then heat shrink part of the tube) so no dirt/debris can get in the chassis by the servo opening.

Update:

Got a package a couple days ago:









I changed the stock plugs to deans and had to modify the charger leads to accept all my other charging needs.

The lipo packs are 5 grams lighter with the dean plugs.

Anyways, The Accucel 6 is a great charger. I have charged 3 packs, all lipos (2 above, and micro t lipo) and i am currently using the storage function.

The packs are really great. Tons of power and keep the power. I only tested each battery for 15mins, but run time was already longer than stock.

Over all i am very happy.

Do they fit well in place of the stock 7 cell, any mods needed?

I think I might need a higher c rating though, was thinking around 45. Feeding two motors vs. one takes a bit more power I am sure.
