Land Rover LR3: Dakar Style
Specs:
The frame fits the body perfectly. Things open, allowing possibilities. And finally, the killer stock flex. Mocked it up while I get my links and shocks. I started the lower links yesterday and it was a pain in the butt screwing the rod ends onto them, since I got 6-32 threaded rod instead of 4-40. Good thing is that they are beefy links now. The chassis that came with the LR3 included these disc brakes, which I plan on using on the TLTs. It also came with wheel wells, which I also want to use. And what I am going for. At least there is a 1:1 Dakar LR3 so I ain't making this up. Not sure on paint. http://www.projektdakar.pl/galeria12/index6.html http://www.projektdakar.pl/galeria15/index.html I will be using the rims on the right:

Noooo, I didn't finish the upper links, so it is like that. Now I fixed it, and it's good.

Got my 70mm Yeah Racing shocks today. They look really nice, but even with the softest springs, I have to push the truck so it flexes. Maybe it needs weight, but just wondering. Also just need to mount the body on the back, and bring in the rear axle a bit. But it is a roller now.

Thanks Donzi. Any ideas on the suspension stiffness? Like I said, even with the soft springs, I have to kinda push it to flex. Maybe with the weight of the electronics and interior that will change, I hope.

What's the weight of the oil within each shock? I'd say either go to a lower weight or replace the plastic filter piece with a higher number of holes, allowing more of the viscous oil to flow, making the shock travel faster.

I have some 30WT, but I have experience with leaky shocks. Maybe these aren't supposed to use oil?

Seeing as how I can see the plastic filter in this picture, they're meant to be oil shocks. I'm surprised that you're having this problem even without shock oil.. Try some oil and see what happens, at least that'd be my first step.

Very nice man. a great scale appearance. As for the flex: the shocks look adjustable, if you screw the shocks upward it should spread the spring out to it's full length and, lessen the stiffness, making it softer. if you understand what i mean, i can't describe it.
