Default In Memory of....

I hope this is the right place for it. Im working on recreating an old car my family had. My sister bought it in 2001, I drove it for a month when I turned 16 in 2004, and then my little brother took it in 2006.....and 5 months later..it died.

Ouch... Whats the story behind that accident ? Thats an awfully clean Civic.

This will be a good build, I'll watch this one. Mind I suggest something ? Make the tire profile bigger then what RS gives you. To match what you had on the 1:1

dang! that civic is in pretty bad shape, do you know what happened to it or how it happened? I'm going to keep my eye on this one.

Well first off I just want to say that I love that car. It saved my brothers life, he came out of the accident without a scratch.

He was being stupid (as many 16 year olds do) and was racing a friend on a curvy road. He ended up spinning out at 90, hit a curb, rolled the car down a hill, and hit a tree. When my mom showed up to the scene she only saw the car and thought my brother was sent to the hospital because it looked soo bad. But he was fine! Not a single scratch on him thanks to that little civic!

Project update: I forgot that the car was a 98 and has a different front bumper than the xmod body! Dang...I already started painting and its too late to go back and fix that. Oh well, I guess this will be a little different than the original car. Does anyone know how to make small mesh grills like on the original car?

Just a little update, I got the lenses on and a clear coat. The clear coat went on kinda thick, and kinda faded the red and black. Any suggestions on how to fix that? Light sanding maybe? I need to dig through my xmod stuff to find my Si wheels, then it should look a lot more similar. Anyone know how to make tiny grills like the original? I want really really tight mesh. Picture is kinda blurry, im tired and didnt want to retake it. I will have better pics later.

Oh and the car was totaled: frame was bent, but the engine was fine! My dads buddy actually took the engine and put it into another civic. Also the seats look really cool in my room lol

Try some strainer mesh. Its kinda small and shouldn't be too hard to find a weave that's small enough.

there's this one type of industrial filter that goes in different levels from about an inch wide to where it's just a grey blur. if you somehow manage to find that (the mesh that is, you don't need a whole filter...), it'll be perfect.

not bad, but are you going to do the bottom lip of the front bumper and side skirts black like on the actual car? looks like it had clear tail lights and a small spoiler too.

for the tail lights you can take brake fluid and a paper towel and carefully take the red clear paint off the rear lenses then paint the red parts on the "bucket" of the light on the car body

as for the spoiler.... maybe a modded stock 06 'stang spoiler would work? idk, it would have to be glued on at the ends tho

I do plan on painting the black trim, I just got kinda in a hurry moving back from school so I wanted to get the clear coat on to protect it while moving. Yea I was wondering how I was going to do the clear tailings, good tips! I will have to try that.

Heres another update with the si wheels on. I need to sand the clear coat, and of course do that black trim that I forgot to do lol.

you've got a great start.
mod the spoiler you need then refer to my painting tut (http://www.xmodsforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1361)to bring this to show quality.
i've thrown in a temp edit with your name in green for where you should start.
follow it as closely as possible and you will find yourself with a **** nice replica of the 1:1.
for the mesh, hit me with a PM and a pic of what your looking for and i'll see what i have onhand.
i have various sizes and thread counts in ample supply,if you need it then it's yours.

the tut linked above uses acrylics, use the clearcoat you used already instead of the tamiya in the tut.

cheers n beers,
