Right, I think someone said that was a good # for rpm... Just before I order one I want to make sure that everyone who has some knowledge on the setup agrees to use the 120 or if they think the 320 or 440 would be even better or just to much. So you say stick with 120rpm

Go with 320 rpm, 120 sounds like a good rpm to start with, but you are forgetting the extra reduction counted in the extra gearing of the gear-train on the chassis, you end up with about 20rpm at the wheels which is incredibly slow. Or in other words .333333 rotations per second, and with a wheel about 2 inches in diameter you will be going 40 inches every minute, it may seem ideal for some applications but for most will require some extra wheel speed if your wheel gets caught.

yes but i know (because iv tested it on a motor dyno) that a gen1 mike mizi crawler motor runs 130 rpm @ 4.8v

so any reduction on the chassis is irrelevant when matching a motor to the originals

i have 2 both have to be adapted for use with 130 cans

the motor master is good for RPM and amp draw
just needs a xmod motor housing fastening to the side

the fantom is a serious bit of kit this tell amps rpm timming and torque
is full PC controlled
had to turn an adapter for the fly wheel and fab a converter for the cradle

sorry for the off topic

So when one of you (cuz i know like 5 people are all working on it) get the motor done what would the running price be?

maybe use the "wrong shaft size" gear-reduced motors with customized output gears/bushing to accept the significant shaft size change? that would mean sanding off the output gear on the small motor so that it can fit into a drilled out xmod gear, then CA the gears together. after that, find a bushing that fits the smaller shaft, drill out the stock xmod bushing, and ca the two bushings together?
that might net you a gen-2 style crawler motor

Well, Im gonna make 2. They will both be the GEN2 style, with the micro gearbox installed in the 130 motor can. So super simple drop in, just like you have seen in Zippos photos. 1 will be the 120rpm box and the other will be the 320rpm box..... then I test them and see which one functions the best. After that, if all is good Ill post a Turorial on how to make it, and include links for all the materials used. I also will make them for anyone who would ratheer I did it for them.. The motor gearbox is $20.00 alone (15.95 + shipping to get 1) then the 130 motor can, and a pinion...18g superflex.. I would guess about $30-$35 ... So you could order all the stuff and make one or I would do it for somwhere in that range, unless I find the materials for less, then the price obviously would go down.

IF you want a crawler it would be easier to get a truck chassis and then mount the body to that. Modding a car body into a crawler will be hard, since its suspension is harder, and its control arms are meant to be low to the ground. Just a suggestion to you.
