Shhhhhh I'm gonna have an '89 2.5 T5 no power steering tomorrow!
Will have pictures up on S10F for sure. Hell, it's exactly the same as my dad's first S-truck.. All of the same option everything, no power steering, 2.5L 'Iron-duke' T5, difference is... His was a Single Cab Long box GMC S15, mine is of course, Ext. Cab, short box, Chevrolet S10... Well, and the rims.. He had the dogbowls, I get the 5 spoke with beauty rings! |

the flames need work though.... 1. it's too busy 2. the flame doesn't flow 3. you need to layer,low/highlight using the blue kandy is good and all but imagine if you only used it to "glow" the white. after that's done,go back and hit "hotspots" with the white then clear. the kandy should have been reduced and airbrushed for lowlights. the intercoat wasn't really needed unless you started masking on AB work. you canuse intercoat clear to see exatly what you've got infront of you but a lint free rag soaked in mineral spirits will show you the same thing for ALOT less coin. is iceman trying to tell you how to paint again??....

Hai Joe. Where ya been? First off, we used intercoat clear in a detail sprayer so that we could just cover up all the airbrush work and tint the white flames. Make no mistake, this was a rush job with very little thought put into it. The flames are terribly busy. The first set of licks that we laid down was straight, the second go-round, he tried filling in a bunch of empty spaces because he doesn't like painting flames lol. It's good enough for now. On final paint, I plan on doing the flames myself and taking my time. I've got a spare hood to practice on. How bout you help a brotha out and get Liz to record you airbrushing some truflame and post it up. I'll take whatever help and constructive criticism I can get to go towards the final product.

i might be able to do that for ya.
if you're staying with blue/white flames then it shouldn't be too hard to make a short vid. the only problem is that i have a few unfinished projects in the garage that need to be taken care of first. you can always refer back to my Xmods trueflame tut for study. http://www.xmodsforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2606 same principal, just bigger. here's an example of what you can pull off with that HF brush i was telling you about. it's pretty flimsy and isn't as comfortable as an iwata but it gets the job done for 1 /16 the cost.

http://www.harborfreight.com/deluxe-...kit-95810.html the hose is seperate ($9) but will connect to the AB and comp. the male 3/8 fitting is seperate but cheap. http://www.harborfreight.com/10-ft-b...ose-95813.html the regulator should be on your comp and the only other piece you would want is a small canister dryer. FWIW, SUPRISINGLY badassed shooters. http://www.harborfreight.com/profess...kit-94572.html ahh yeah, i forgot...... talking to you earlier got me off my as enough to finish this one up. i'mma cut and polish it tomorrow.....**** my phone takes chitty pics.. better pic..

the CFM is lacking and it struggles to keep up with my AB's at 35PSI.....but...it's ALOT more quiet then my 3 gal. oiled craftsman. the craftsman DOES charge faster but it's a toss up between constant and quiet or obnoxious noise for 30 second bursts. either way, you can get a decent comp for less then $100. and, for focks sake, don't buy an AB compressor. they're loud for what they are and you don't get a consistant supply of air.

It's been a while.
Anyways...since my last update, I: >Replaced the driver and passenger side glass (original owner sandblasted the old ones and they looked terrible) >Did a little re-wiring >Swapped over to dual piston front brakes, including the spindles, rotors, calipers, dust shields, and all that good stuff. >Picked up another set of rear calipers so that I could finish the back brakes >Installed my new belltech nitro active shocks in the front >Installed a ZQ8 frame stabilizer bar >Installed new delphi fuel pump (old one crapped out and currently the truck doesn't want to start, still) That's about it for now. I've been working on an '08 STI engine swap and that's been killing my S10 time. I painted the brakes green, but I'm going to pull them and just spray them the titanium silver color that my other brakes are...was just experimenting and grabber green just ain't going to work on this truck lol. Pics! ZQ8 Bar: Brakes. Before/After: S10 and the Blazer Thnx for looking! |
