Well the carburator shouldn't be too far from being installed
Still needed an intake for the carburator and picked up this air gap. My favorite part on it Also had the church car show on saturday 5-9-09 and it went well. In 2007 I took first place overall and wasn't able to go in 2008. But this year I took 3rd place which I was suprized because the other cars in the category but got beat by a red 67 camaro and a 66 vette. Took 103 pictures total so i'm not going to upload them here but feel free to go through my myspace folder. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...lbumId=2970056

Hasn't been any updates recently becuase not much has happened. The carb and intake still haven't been installed yet i'm saving up for the installation however I have gotten a few goodies recently.
Just picked up a Grant steering wheel today And for safety purposes and because I just like it a quick release kit And then I will buy the mustang horn button instead of keeping the Grant horn button. Either the mustang logo or this ford one. Still need to buy the adapter and installation kit but thats about it. More updates when more progress is made.

I will as soon as it gets put on but it will more than likely be a while since its not at the top of my list. Plus I still need to buy the adapter and installation kit. But its should be a pretty big difference and different feel since the old wheel is 16 inches in diameter and this new one is only 13. But my plan was have it ready for school next year so when I parked I could just put the wheel in my backpack so if someone tried to steal the car they would have to disable the alarm and tow it since I would have the wheel in the building.

That would help if I was a little taller. At only 5'9 its pretty comfy as it is. But with the old wheel being so big it gave me a perfect excuse to not let any of my friends drive it because they were either uncomfy or too big to move the steering wheel enough so I would say its unsafe and not let them drive it. But I guess with this new one I could just take the wheel off and lock it in the trunk.

Yes I just told my parents it was for anti-thieft I just really wanted one. But a minor setback I had problems the other day with the transmission linkage and not going into park it would stay in drive or reverse. Well yesterday I decided to drive it to the church anyways and needless to say it ran good the way up there and even went into park. But when trying to leave it would get out of park so we called a tow truck because we didn't want it in that neighborhood overnight. And now its in the garage awaiting to get fixed today.

Oh it will be a pretty easy fix either the transmission linkage needs adjusting or just came loose altogether or it could be a rubber grommet at the bottom of the shifter. Unless something unusual happened it will be about 3-10 dollars in new parts.

Hardly an epic fail, if I recall right you have a column shift? The adjustment for that should be at the fire wall where the steering shaft comes out. Not uncommon for it to slide out of place over time. Need to adjust the CST10s as well.
Shoot, if he was daring enough he could have just unhooked the linkage at the tranny, started the motor, and put it into D with someone up top making sure the car doesn't move.

Nope its a floor mounted shifter but good news. After checking the easier fixes it could be I realized it wasn't a external problem. So I started to take the transmission apart. But for not knowing very much about transmissions I figured I did pretty good even though the C4 is a pretty simple transmission. Took the pan and filter off and found a loose bolt tightened it down pretty good and know it shifts fine again.
So after a week of sitting in the garage, a couple trips to different part stores, and about 8 quarts of trans fluid later I thought it would be ready for a test drive. But sadly after slowly putting the fluid in the pan was leaking so tomorrow I have to go buy a new gasket and then it should be ready to hit the road again. Edit well today I finally fixed all the problems and took it for a test drive and it runs perfect now. View My Video

Just got my ebay order in:
Then next will be some chrome valve covers to go with the carb and intake after they get installed so there will be no more blue. And the carb and intake if everything goes as planned should be installed on the 18th. So far as I have tested the 2 barrell I managed to get a 7.9 second 0-60. So with the 4 barrell and new intake i'm hoping to run somewhere in the low 7's.

Big update
Here is the old carb and intake: Ran suprizingly good for its condition Now for the new carb and intake: It's a Holley 600 cfm electric choke on a edelbrock air gap 289/302 Put a couple of the stickers on that came with the parts. Here is my favorite part: Matching filter and valve covers After the valve covers there will be no more blue. Now I just need to get the gaskets and put them on. But sadly after the new carb the new filter won't fit so I need to buy a small filter and then it will be temporarily done.

Well forgot to update but the holley was running horrible and hesitating really bad. So I decided to sell it and bought an edelbrock off summit for $236.00 with shipping. And wow the difference is amazing pulled it out of the box installed it and it ran great. Just adjusted the idle and 2 minutes with the vacuum gauge to set the mixture and it runs amazing. Absolutly no hesitation and now pushing close to 250hp (estimated).
Ignore the red boxes I was double checking something so added those in. But just so you know how much of a difference the 2 barrel would run a 7.9 0-60. I never tested the holley since it never ran good. But the edelbrock ran a 5.34 0-50. Accidently stopped the video too soon and haven't done the 0-60 yet. But I was guessing in the low to mid 6's.

Holly's take A LOT of tuning and screwing around with to get right, especially if their used because that means they were already tuned for another motor. Lots of spring, jet, and power valve combos you can mess with.
Edels are like Q-Jets out of the box, in that it's a matter of adjusting the mixtures a bit and your almost always gonna have a solid performer, assuming the carb is in proper shape. Oh, and 4bbl secondary power boost ftw! Nothing like the change in growl when you hit those second throttle plates... Unless it's a Q-Jet, as the secondaries are MASSIVE compared to the primaries. It's like V-tech y0

I think it is the american version of v-tech. But ya the holley was used and I switched the springs and a few other things but didn't feel like paying $100 to get it rebuilt. Let's just say I did alot of "testing" after the carb was adjusted and now I need new tires before I can pass inspection next month .
