The Xmod Evo does not need resistors to achieve the correct steering radius. If the left/right turning is off, you need to center your servo mechanically by taking it apart and realigning the gears inside.

As for swapping the Mini-Z pot and motor to the Xmods' servo casing: I don't know if the pot and motor are compatible, however I'm pretty sure the steering motor is the same size and so if you can transplant the pinion from the Xmods' steering motor to the Mini-Z steering motor, then it's worth a shot -- but only with a Mini-Z board, because without the Mini-Z board (which was built to have higher steering steps resolution) having a better pot is useless.
not "calling you out" but a lot of people have stated doing this, unlike the gen 1 where there is gears between the potentiometer and the main steering gear, the evo, both truck and car are different from the gen 1. you can't recenter the steering because the piece that controls the tie rodd attaches directly to the pot on the other side of the gear. so it doesnt matter what you do to the other gears inside there is no way that it will effect the "fixed" steering gear. if i'm mising something here please explain. the output on this gear where the main driving piece hooks is a square.

this diagram shows the difference in the 2. yes the gen 1 can be adjusted to get the true center. the evo can't. its a solid gear from where the steering arm connects to the pot. not sure how you can adjust that. yeah, you can pull it apart and move it to center, but as soon as you turn it on it will return to where it thinks center is.

oh, and i know if i wanted to race i should get a mini-z, but i dont know anyone around here to race with, and i just drift around my house and garage, so it'd be nice if i could just turn both ways evenly instead of great left and horrible right....not looking for precise controlled steering like a mini-s just merely EVEN steering...
the only way i got even steering from my xmod is switching to a better pcb like a iwaver, miniZ,microT. and getting a tx with end point adjustment like the futaba 2pl then you can adjust the steering to be equal in both directions.of coarse,it's a bit costly of an option unless you buy used.

Whoops, it really has been a while since the last time I played with an Evo. My apologies for the misinformation.

Well then... I guess you could play around with resistors on the pot wires. Putting a 3-ohm resistor on the left or right wire will either increase steering throw in one direction or another, or throw the steering trim to one direction. If the former, then continue playing with resistors. If the latter, then I guess we could try putting a resistor on the center pot wire.

To the original poster: How bad is the problem, and have you checked IF there is a mechanical problem other than the gears vs. potentiometer?

Didn't you start this thread, asking why steering is better on a Z? So what the H was that.
