I am interested how the benz charger is going to sit on this motor. You keeping it's clutched blower pully?

definitely keeping the clutched pulley. it complicates things if/when I go to up the boost, as instead of getting a smaller blower pulley like most systems, I have to get a larger crank pulley....but I think it'll be worth it to loose the off-boost drag.

I'll be mounting it to the engine like this:

with belt routing more like this:

Wow that belt has to go pretty far down. But it will definately be worth it. Its coming together nicely.

got bored tonight. so I put the intake mani and heads together and used some crap from around the basement to do a little mockup to plan out my intake.

then I put the cam pulleys on the heads, and used that as a reference for where the blower pulley should be.

left to right.
1. this piece is laying across the tops of the heads, referencing where the bottom of the blower will be.
2. representing the timing belt location
3. representing the alt, PS, and blower belt location

the Air-Water intercooler I'm planning on using is 13.5" long. I was able to get just over this between the output on the blower and the throttle body. my high-pressure intake track is just going to be 2 90 degree couplers and the IC. pretty sweet!

nothing picture-worthy. But my heads/cams are boxed up, and will be off to Delta today.

ordered timing belt set, water pump, main/rod bearings, head bolts, piston rings, full engine gasket set and a power steering pump rebuild kit this weekend.

but, in other related news. another supercharged-suby project (pictured above) was just fired up this weekend. this is a '01 2.5RS totally stock engine, piggyback ECU, same supercharger I'm running except he's got a custom pulley that's engaged all the time, not clutched like stock.

Now, I need to go upload my boost map to the EManage Ultimate, and go for a nice, easy slow, sunday drive around the block!! Videos to follow!!

Here is another quick video.
Just a drive around the block. And a couple of lbs of boost.

That's awesome... you should stick on a solid pully for pure sound reasons.

I plan to have a manual switch so I can engage it manually. I will definitely be making a trip to the local Muscle Car hangout and tooling through the parking lot with the supercharger on

yesterday I ran a couple errands. and came home with this:

a cylinder honing tool....with it, I did this:

mmmmm.....fresh hone.

some parts

NPR piston rings
ACL main and rod bearings
PCI timing kit
GMB new water pump
head bolts
and an OEM engine gasket set

today some progress. bolted the case halves together:

rear main seal in

oil and water pumps installed. pistons, as well as coolant bridge, and wrist-pin access plugs.

once again, not much to do until more parts come. this time waiting on the ported/polished heads with reground cams to arrive from Delta.

car is for sale. a lower mileage, stock motor will be put in it. and it will be sold.

I will accumulate parts/money over the winter. and next spring/summer, I'll fly out to the pacific northwest and buy a clean coupe shell for the supercharged motor and badass trans.

so, if you know of anyone who would like an extremely fun to drive and reliable little wagon for ~$1500, let me know!

my friend may want it. he wants me to ask what's included that's not stock (i.e. if the roof rack is included or the gold rims). he'll also need to wait a little bit to save up for it, probably around august. so let me know about it, thanks.

I have a stock 2.2l motor from a '93 legacy with 140k miles on it in the shed that I will put in it (instead of the 285k mile one that's in it now) with a new clutch.

5-lug conversion is not stock. suspension, brakes, steering rack, all upgraded.

Full-time 4WD with dual range and center diff lock.

open rear diff (LSD will be swapped into my XT6).

roof rack not included

hella Optilux fog/driving lights (a 55w and 100w bulb in each one) mounted on the bumper.

body is none too pretty, some cosmetic rust (originally a florida car) and some dents. comes with straight fenders, doors and hood (all will need painting though). but extremely solid. only surface rust.

undecided on the wheel/tire situation. I have no intent on selling any of the sets that I have (DEFINITELY not the gold 17s). so 1500 does not include wheels/tires.

very few parts stock to this car, but almost all are stock on another subaru. so still extremely reliable. also VIN comes up as a FWD AT, so very cheap to insure.

won't be ready to sell for a month or so, lots of little things that I was going to take care of during the swap. but once it's ready to go, if there's no buyer lined up, it will probably go up on ebay. I would like it gone by mid-july at the latest.
