of all of the garbage played on the radio, greenday is the worst.
billy joe armstrong was recently asked in an interview,"why the mascara?".
his reply,"it makes you look messed up".
his reply to that question is nothing more than admittance of being a poser.
if he wants to "look messed up" then he should follow the ways of pantera or other real bands and start the show with a fifth of jack and end it with another.

personally,i'm getting pretty fed up with radio bands.
atleast 90% of the "music" played on rock stations is media controlled.
record labels pay to have their bands played x ammount of times per day wich drives the garbage into your brain.
next thing you know you have 100,000 13 yr olds requesting nickleback, linkin park and greenday while bands with actual talent get pushed completely off the radar simply because they don't have major funding backing them.
even bands that start off as decent rockers eventually fall into the lull and completely switch their styles to get radio play.
theory of a deadman is a good example.
TOAD used to rock *****,now they sound ALOT like nickleback.
kinda funny how they didn't get much air time till they switched it up to appeal the kids.

i guess i'm just jaded from being forced to listen to "sweet child o mine" and seethers version of "careless whisper" 8 times a day.

to the younger guys, please, take it upon yourselves to find YOUR OWN music and quit buying into pop bull****.
talk to some older people and find out what they listen to other then radio.
when they suggest something, give it a go.

in the words of jello biafra(dead kennedys):
MTV GET OFF THE AIR.......NOW!!

my list.
CLUTCH........just saw em in concert last tuesday.....PURE ROCK FURY!!!

SNOT:
sadly, snot only got to make one album. the singer,Lynn Strait, was killed by a drunk driver....the kicker,...Lynn was on his way to an AA meeting...
**** irony....**** it to hell.

Gogol Bordello.
gypsy punk ftw!

MushroomHead.

40 below summer.

At the drive in.

Dead Kennedys

SOD (storm troopers of death)

MDC (millions of dead cops)

Static-X

Gov't Mule

Pressure 4-5

American Head Charge

Southern culture on the skids

The Cramps

Circle Jerks

Dread Zepplin

yeah you see alot of people that have like AC/DC shirts and Led Zeppelin hats. these bands are rock legends, and nothing against them, but they are over played. bands like Billy squier with songs like "Everybody wants you" and "the stroke" that are great songs. Or " Renagade" by the Styx. i encourage you to listen to these songs. i have a local radio station that does a great job of playing bands like these and strays from the Metallicas and the Van Halens.

green day was cool until I heard real punk rock like Black Flag, Rancid is good too and they nearly went mainstream. Two different styles but very good don't forget Minor Treat, the Clash, the Sex pistols and so on.....

Greenday is to punk, like Eminem is to rap. Actually their careers are both fairly parrallel in that the more albums they produce the further away from their genre they get.

There are a lot of people, like yourself, that got into other punk because of Greenday... like a lot of people got into rap because of Eminem.

Black Flag has some stuff I like, but I like Rollins' solo stuff better myself...come on, starve is a song that screams masculinity and makes you want to drive fast and break stuff. And I don't think anyone in their right mind could call Rollins a sissy to his face...

ironically he was some what a sissy back in the early black flag days. He was real skinny but the crowd was so ruff he bulked up and got tuff.

I perfered the kieth morris era of blag flag who went on to form the circle jerks.

Lets no forget to shout out The Drop Kick murphys

I agree completely. This is why I never listen to the radio or watch MTV. Occasionally Ill watch FUSE, but not so much.

The majority of my music I find online, searching for little known/indie bands. As in today, I just found eight new bands that I like after a 2 hour search. I liked Green Day before "American Idiot" was all over MTV, and I used to love Theory of a Deadman, until "Bad Girlfriend" was on the radio every 10 minutes. I hate it when bands become popular like that. I was upset when I saw Kaiser Chiefs on XM Radio! (And Im also upset that most people only know them because "Ruby" was a bonus song on Guitar Hero...)

I think its time to reform the music industry. Record labels are screwing too many good musicians. These "mainstream" bands are good musicians, they have talent, but the record industries force them to change so they can sell more albums by marketing it to more people. Want to make a difference? Start supporting Indie bands. Support bands that aren't marketed by major record labels. Tell the RIAA to F' off.

What the hell... As I'm typing this, the commercial for the new Green Day album comes on... See? Exactly what I'm talking about...

Uhhh... No its not. That is an opinion. Opinions are not facts. Therefore, screamo is not the best music ever. It is an equal form of music, just like every other genre.
