just save some money and get a mini-z

all the most competitive mini-z's are rwd. the mr02s. they are ALL rwd. the awd can't tounch them, and the wold champions of mini-z racing often just stick with Ni-MH. the lithium just is soo unstable.

the xmod, if tuned right, can drive faster as a RWD format. i know a dude who can drive his rwd xmod 8 laps without bumping into anything on a tight technical course. and that' really all because of practice and the right adjustments

Your Wrong. Mini-Z parts are easier to find. Mini-Z is an better investment. They are more hobby grade. Sure, Xmods are cheaper, but Mini-Z's would be better in the long-run since Xmod's are losing business because they didn't come out with a new chassis. There are lots of things Mini-Z's can do that Xmods cant do.

well.... me personally i would buy the radline HIGH speed motor and get 8-25 high torque gearing. then i would get NiMH rechargable batteries which do improve preformance but your starting so... you dont really need the speed of lithim polymers. i would get racing slicks from Xmods International. these wheels will give you good grip and traction: http://www.xmodsinternational.com/US...SLICKTIRES.htm

if you want to drift go with hard slicks:
http://www.xmodsinternational.com/US...SLICKTIRES.htm
or these are good for drifting:
http://www.xmodsinternational.com/US...NGWHEELKIT.htm

this motor would be nice:
http://www.xmodsinternational.com/US...UTIONMOTOR.htm
but right now its out of stock

and i would get a locked diff if i were you... here is one:
http://www.xmodsinternational.com/US...EDDIFFGEAR.htm

and if you want a spoiler:
http://www.xmodsinternational.com/USA_STORE_WINGS.htm

and for less friction on the wheels get bearings... they increase your speed and acceleration:
http://www.xmodsinternational.com/US...BEARINGKIT.htm

see, if you're gonna get an xmod, you'll end up spending way more on it than you would on a mini-z if you're srious about racing.
kyosho came out with a GTR mini-z, so you can still have the car you want.
get an mr02 or mr015 mini-z. using rwd will not only be faster, but can train you to drive fast. the xmods are decent, but have the worst handling in the mini-z/iwaver/xmod world.
if you really are bent on saving money, you'll have to give up the GTR bodyshell and get an iwaver.
the AWD is good only if you're gonna be bashing.
rwd has better characteristics.

question for you:
since when have you ever seen an AWD racecar(not counting any off-road cars/trucks)?
F1? no
GT? no
Indy? no
Nascar? no
top-fuel? no
le mans? no
what road-going motorsport has AWD?

EDIT: the only real use for AWD xmods in is drifting and rally(but rally you need to do a lot of mods to lift the car higher for more ground clearance)

iWavers are an Asian knock-off of a Kyosho Mini-z.

And I suggest getting a mini-z like XMDrifter acknowledged before. It will cost a whole lot of money in the long run. Trust me, and XMD, because I used to own a mini-z awd and I had a few xmods at the same time also.

By far, the stock straight out of the box mini-z outperformed the fully RS upgraded xmod.

You can get a MR-02 from ebay for a price as low as $55 dollars, and I think a xmod is $50. So invest those $5 into a better purchase.

Good luck bro.

iwavers are still waay better than xmods.
custom rydz just plain suck

a brand new iwaver costs about, um 70-100 bucks

you're not supposed to drive mini-z's outside. mini-z cars are strictly for tracks!
the xmods roll over more because the bodyshell is so top-heavy

the new xmods are not crystal changable. but there is a TUT on how you can make it. I think atomicmods is the one that made the tut, check their site.

as for the steering, well thats just xmods, they have never been that great.

I think they quit making the track all together, so if your looking for the RS track, ebay is your only bet. Other wise, get creative all sorts of things to make tracks out of.

its your xmod. paint it what ever color you like best. you have a 3 way tie in your poll. so paint it once of those colors if your still really stuck. Personally id leave it alone. nothing looks worse than a paint job gone wrong on a brand new xmod.

the easiest way i found to upload pictures, so you dont have to spend time resizing to make sure they dont break forum tables. and to have them all stored safely is use everyones favorite website, Myspace. (if u dont have myspae well use photobucket or make a myspace) Log into your myspace, create a Private ablum, then upload all your pictures into it. Myspace will automatically resize them to the perfect size for the forum tables, and then they are stored safely and your friends wont be able to see them when they look at your pictures.

Then get on here. When posting a message you see the little yellow square button with the 2 grey mountain looking things, and it looks like it has a hole poked threw it in the top right corner? Push that, a box will pop up asking you for hte link. copy and past the link from your pictures into that box. click okay. then you will see something like this in your message box.

[ IMG ] LINK TO YOUR PHOTO HERE [ / IMG ]

But it wont have all the spaces in it. then when you click post, you will see your picture. Make sure when posting multiple pictures you put lines between each picture, so it looks something like this in your message:

"hey guys here my pictures:

IMG code

IMG code

IMG code

Tell me what ya think!"

make it look like that, by hitting enter between codes. do not post it like this.

IMG code IMG code IMG code

that will break forum tables and you WILL get yelled at.

Finally, for your signature go to USER CP at the top of the XMS webpage.
CLick edit signature on the top left. and well its pretty simple from there..

and seriously i know all this is a sticky somewhere on this site, that you could have used hte cool SEARCH BUTTON. and found your answer faster than typing out your question and asking us....

read this sticky....
