radioshack motors...you can use it without stacking a thing
other motors...no. even my personal 50t that runs on stock fets heats my stacked stock fets up a lot with just NiMH at 4.8v no binding, and minimal friction, yet, when i run mine, there's a ton of heat. probably cuz i drive hard :P lithiums are ok for stock electronics with RS motors (s1, s2)

i think i said this to you in maybe another post, but i cant recall. but try this...
start out oon a stock board with lithiums and the stage 1 or 2 motor. you will be just fine. its like twice as fast as what your use too on standard batterys. So it will be more htan enough to make you happy for a while and get use too it. then if you get bored and decided you really need more. thats when you need to worry about spending extra money in upgrading boards and worrying about bigger motors. |

Ok cool, I'm asking because I'm probably going to use Lithium on my AWD 4WS car because It seems like the best way to get batteries on there.

thats what im doing ,RS stage 2 motor(for now, want a chilli), awd, stock board(for now, maybe v2 later) and lithium....but dunno if i should go with lith-ions, poly, or just use the lithium aaa's from atomic mods......im no good with electronics....

in order of discharge rate
aaa lithium ions aa lithium ions lithium polymer the lithium polymer batteries have the highest discharge rate and is required for lower turn motors. a very low turn motor, 30 and lower i believe, require a higher discharge rate to get the best performance.

Most Lithium Technology (LiPO, LiION) batteries are rechargable. The only one I can think of that is not are the "Lithium" batteries made by Energizer. All of the "kits" that you'll find for Xmods are indeed able to be recharged with an appropriate (and often supplied with the proper "kit") charger.

if all your running is rs stage 2 motor and stock board, i would say just get the lithion, pretty easy to fit, and cheaper.
you wouldn't really have to have lipo batteries unless running higher current motors.

Bite the bullet and go Lithium Polymer directly. Later on down the road once you feel safer with a "hotter (lower turn)" motor, you can upgrade to that motor without worry that the Lithium Ions will not offer a high enough discharge to power that motor. If you go Lithium Polymer right off the bat, you know you're safe in the battery department for whatever you decide to do. Plus, Lithium Polymer's are easier to install since they're square flat packs, rather than round cylindrical cells. It takes less cutting, less wiring and a little bit less hassle.
Whomever says Lithium Ion is more safe than Lithium Polymer is incorrect. They're both just as dangerous and need to be treated with respect and care. Both of them can go "BOOM" very quickly and unexpectedly when treated horribly. They're still both Lithium technology, they're both just as mean.

just the lith-poly is has a soft casing so its easier to get punctured by a pebble or something.
but if you run on very smooth clean ground both are safe enough. just use the right type of charger, and get a good one too. like the dynamite li-po charger on AM
