how is your diff gears holding up to all that power? i just had to replace my diff gear and input gear with steel ones. my diff was properly shimmed but they still wore out and stripped. and i'm only running 6800kv and a 2cell li-po.
my new steel gears sound pretty cool though, they seem to be showing no signs of wear so far.
I've had no problems with my differentials thus far, and I've been running it with brushless power for about a year now.

Of course! Zippo just gave me a great link on a Thunder Power LiPo that I'll hopefully be able to purchase in the near future.

Cheers,
Kyle.

That thing is freaking sick man. That's a serious BL motor you have in there..

I would be more than happy having a 5700kv system in my Slash, you've got almost twice that in a smaller vehicle. Those li-pos are going to make it crazy.

You don't happen to mean crazy like this, do you, Ling? These tired will not expand on regular NiMH runs.. Lol.

Cheers,
Kyle.

Are you really trying to make me cry?

This is what I paid, you can probably find all items for less since everything is fairly out of date:
RC18MT: $179.99 new.
Mamba 25 w/ 8000kV motor: $135.99
Futaba 2PL w/ Receiver: $70.00
Dynamite C4 9200kV motor: $69.99
GPM Front Shock Tower: $9.99 (got it on sale!)
GPM Rear Shock Tower: $9.99 (got it on sale!)
GPM Titanium Drive Shaft: $5.99 (got it on sale!)
100% Full Sealed Ball Bearings: $35.00
CheapBatteryPacks.com 1500mAh w/ Deans: $25.00
Front and Rear Adjustable Oil Filled Shocks: $25.99
Total: $567.93.

I'm sure I am missing items (too much to remember lol) and I'm certainly positive the costs of all items have decreased over the past two years. It may seem like a lot, but most of this was gifted (Mamba package from Gpa, actual RC18 for Xmas, misc. parts, etc) and took about two years to get it to how it is now. Sadly, it still isn't completed. However, I will say, this is by far my favorite RC and has given me the least amount of problems! It isn't, however, the most expensive (Axial AX10 is over $800, nearing $1,000!!!).

Cheers,
Kyle.

nice stuff Kyle. i think my friend and i are about to hop up my MLST and his RC18MT. the thing i love about the RC18MT is the entire configuration of the chassis, everything is ridiculously accessible except the gear boxes, those take a little effort to get into. the funny thing is that their design is even simpler than a Mini T, yet the RC18MT has 4wd. i wish we could run, i don't know many people around here with 1/18. for anybody interested in 1/18 RC, as far as trucks, the RC18MT (out of the box) outperforms any Losi 1/18 except for the Mini-LST2 (which is overpriced).

Can't argue there, Suicide!

Although the gearboxes take a little more effort to get into than they probably should, it's not much of a problem. I've never had to replace, rework or redo a differentail because it failed, broke or whatever. That's pretty **** good considering I'm pumping 9200kV through it's system. It's pretty rock solid down there.

I have however tightened the differentials because I felt they were too loose from the factory. All in all though, that only took about a half hour to take apart, test and put back together. Not that bad when you actually enjoy doing the work.

What are you and your bud's plans for your 1:18th?

Cheers,
Kyle.

I let the smoke out...

Now my room smells like burnt electronics...

I suppose water got into the ESC. Oh well, it's gone now. $120 up in smoke.

Guess I'm going backed to the stock brushed system until I can afford a new ESC...

EDIT:

Unbearably Saddened,
Kyle.

not sure what my buddy's doing to his rc18, but the mini LST is getting all alloy, dual BL, and roughly about $1K worth of hopups. not right now though, i got the wife a mini T that i'm working on. wow, that board burnt up bad, got any of it on film? =P even if you throw your brushed system back on, it'll still scoot with a LiPo.

Love your car donzii. I'd look into getting the Micro pro esc since you all ready have the motors. I love mine. Very easy to install and clean Never really felt it get warm, very tight casing, there is a little gap were the leds show, wires and cooling fins, but it is pretty water tight. That really stinks man. Hope you get it back up soon.

Suicide_Star: Sounds like an awesome project, Suicide. Be sure to keep us posted; at least me. And yeah, it'll still scoot, even on just regular NiMH. These are pretty fast out of the box stock.

The ESC burnt so bad it actually caught fire. If you've ever handled a Mamba 25 you'd know how thick the plastic wrapping is. It took a lot of heat to make the FETs bubble that much and cause the wrapping to burn away that much..

It was cool but I was so ****ed (and worried) at the same time.

fieldfairy2: Thanks. Yeah, the Mamba Micro Pro was my plan for a replacement. Hopefully I can spot one on eBay or at an LHS for a reasonable price.

Cheers,
Kyle.
