The lexan bodies are a pain to make so I stopped. It's not the actual making the lexan body that is a pain for the DIY guys, it's the making the mold to form it too. I posted a link on and ooooooold thread for a good DIY vaccum former, so if someone is interested in making them again then go at it. I on the other hand sold my vaccum former and stopped making them. There a few pan car lexan bodies and a NASCAR lexan body on the market for miniz and xmods but that's it. Besides the demand doesn't make of for the time it takes to make a DIY mold of a variety of bodies.

could you vacum mold a xmod body but leave the plastic on the xmod and just carve out like the wheel wells and stuff so it acts as a protective layer

You can't use a body because plastics will melt together. That's why it's a pain you have to mold a body then make a plaster copy or metal or wood etc.

most xmod bodys would be a PITA to vac form

unless you have a very expensive machine you will suffer from undercutting and webbing

undercutting : when the mould has negative faces (like bumpers that curl under or deep rads ) the plastic will not form to the shapes in this instance

webbing : deep vertical lines on a mould cause the plastice to span from the top outward to the base of the mould and not follow the lines of the mould

I've got an old HS teacher with a 3D printer (rapid prototype ability), I could make some for S-n-G's testing.

IMO, I think that with a 3D printer, there could be a whole world of Xmods parts that could be made. Unfortunately, since they cost over $1000, most people don't have 3D printers, but Texan, if you can figure out how to use that 3D printer, it could be a valuable tool.

Ill get off the thread topic just for a second, here are a few photos From FTX 2010. Im not in any of the pix cuz I took them.

M240 Machine Gun Pit.. Call sign "Arizona One" (I was the Squad leader "Arizona Leader")

Random photo of a security Hummer.. with a MK19 Automatic Grenade Launcher.

A photo of where we slept.. And it was super cold, and rained almost everyday... I got about 3-4 hours of sleep a day.
