have an idea for the steering...If you take off the bottom plate and mold one with a lip that might help the slop or make new molds for the steering rod with a smaller line in it so it fits the lip that it slides on tighter.

Well, I definately think that is a good Idea... there is already the tutorial somwhere about putting the aluminum tube in the holes to tighten it up a bit.

Did that on my crawler, only with brass:

IMO, does a good job of getting rid of quite a bit of steering slop.

Over complicating and you'd end up weakening the tierod and knuckle. A brass bushing is all you need.

I'd personally use some silicon spray (lubricant) to make it easier for the tie-rod to turn/ allow the suspension to work correctly since its near perfect size sort of makes things bind up.

No. Again, over complicating this! It does not need a precise bearing. A properly sized brass bushing will work perfect with no realistic friction loss compared to a bearing. There's not a lot of force or weight on it for it to ever need a bearing. Not to mention there has to be a little bit of wiggle room to compensate for the knuckle's travel, and steering geometry since xmods use a 1 piece tie rod that has to move with two independent wheels. Putting tight fitting bearings would put it in a bigger bind than Tiger wood's marriage.

LOL... burn on the Tiger. I agree. The brass is cool enough.

You know a great concept idea i came up with but actually never put to thought since wellz i dont have any of the materials to do it or the tools... But any how the concept is a centered motor 4wd conversion chassis, what you would do is run 2 front gear boxes (1 having no servo gears and servo motor) one in the front and one it the rear and then relocate the main drive motor into the center of the chassis like the 1/10s, The chassis would have two arms at the back to hold the knuckles in like the MA010 so they wouldn't move. The shaft would have a spur gear glued onto it and the batteries would be relocated to one side of the chassis and the board would go on top or right next to the motor. This would seem like a great way to lower the CG considering you are lowering the motor and it would be more nimble too because most of the weight has been centered. Not to mention it would be a great layout for LiPos because you could just stack the two packs one one side of the chassis. It would make it alot more like the 1/10 scale tourings.

Then again its just one of those concepts sitting in my head, i am sure we all have some.

yep you betcha just like that but with EVO gear boxes, looks like a fine car though lol, i am sure a conversion would be less than $200 even CF lol. Besides where would you drive that thing? Good luck finding a 1/4 long foam track.

You haven't even seen me take a breath yet.

Simply explaining the faults of the idea and why it's not practical or useful. Think I already said once in the thread that it would not work and it was brought up with an even more complex plan with out understanding why there's slop there in the 1st place.
