Howdy,

Below is an image taken with our recently acquired Nikon D700 body of my brother swimming the fifty yard freestyle in a dual meet. I love this camera. Coming from an outdated D2X (February 2005!), the update in speed, quality, everything is outstanding. Plus, the benefit of a full-frame camera is wonderrrful.

Body: Nikon D700.
Lens: Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G AF-S.
Exposure: 1/250.
Aperture: f/2.8.
ISO: 2000.

Comments and critique are openly welcomed!

Cheers,
Kyle

Haha. Yeah. I have a few guys looking like they're hunting for cheeseburgers. I will have to post a couple of those.. lol.

What point and shoot did you get?

The entire setup for that particular photograph was $4,350 -- $2,700 for the D700 body and $1,650 for the 70-200mm f/2.8G AF-S VR lens.

Great little camera you have yourself. Some awesome reviews everywhere I look.

As a lump sum it can seem rather expensive, but for the amount of time it will last, the amount of use it will receive, and the photographs it will produce make it much easier to swallow.

I'm still trying to get my settings right now shots like that. Unfortunately, it will be a while before I can try again...

We need more firework holidays.

We try to be up north every year for the fourth to watch the fireworks from the water on a boat. I cannot stress enough how much of an awesome experience it is to see them from that vantage point, rather than sitting on some pitiful blanket in a city park somewhere. If ever given the opportunity to watch them from the water, be sure to do so.

Cheers,
Kyle

Cryogenic-death had mentioned a page or two back his interest in dragonflies, so here is another. This particular image is of a dragonfly eating, what appears to be, a fishfly on the back of our boat in Northern Michigan.

Just returned from the 90th annual Pike's Peak Hill Climb (Flickr link). I worked with a race team this year.

The night sky has always been a bewildering array of twinkles which can silence even the chattiest of people (including myself ). In an effort to learn by experimentation I took the following shots with a Nikon D700 and Nikkor 28-70mm f/2.8 lens over the last weekend in Northern Michigan.

Nikon D700 | Nikon 28-70mm | ISO 400| f/3.2 | 30 sec.

Nikon D700 | Nikon 28-70mm | ISO 400 | f/2.8 | 30 sec.

Nikon D700 | Nikon 28-70mm | ISO 400 | f/2.8 | 30 sec.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Kyle
