Default fieldfairy2's mini late model

Well i got this late model for the holidays(08) and I love it!!!

I finally have some upgrades on it now. I have a losi ball diff, a dual disk slipper(with clear gear cover), and the Mamba micro pro + 5400kv motor.

The pics look focused when i take them but they turn out a little fuzzy. I am still trying to figure it out, lol.

Plans: get some deans(bl instructions say it needs plugs that are rated for 40-100A), another battery, and some aluminum pinion gears.

thanks

That's probably due to the fact that your images are compressed to fit onto the small quick view LCD.

How do you like the Sidewinder?

Cheers,
Kyle.

True

It is very easy to setup and understand, the bullet connectors are really hard to put together atleast one of them was. I have only done the quick program and have yet to stick program it, i am holding off for the computer till we get a better one(hopefully soon). I tested it once outside(stupid weather) and am very impressed, the top speed is a little faster than stock, but there is so much more power. I was testing it inside after hooking it up to make sure it was working, it was very loud and got hot. I knew i needed to tune the slipper, once i got it tuned, it was a lot quiter(sp?,doesn't look right), ran cooler, and a little faster. It is the extreme sidewinder, the esc never got warm and i like the hard case.

Looks nice! I like it, but I'm still debating if I'll buy another 'go fast' Losi. I like their crawlers, but haven't had much luck with others, how do you think this would hold up to the new 1/16 Traxxas Slash or 1/16 Traxxas E-Revo that are coming out? If you think it'll beat them, then what about the brushless editions? Forget about the questions lol, I don't expect you to compare to something that's not even out yet.

thanks. I understand what you mean. This is a dirt oval and flat surface racer not an offroader, so i don't know how to explain it... lol. I love this thing thought. Very fun!

Looks pretty nice. Amorton the Mini Slash 4WD will be $200 as stated on another forum and the mini E-revo will be a lot more knowing revos. But sweet fieldfairy. I'm assuming you race dirt oval? If not you should try it. Its pretty fun. I got the opportunity to do it once and it felt awesome. They way how they go around the tracks is like the full scale stuff.

Thanks. I haven't raced on the dirt oval yet. I race it on a rcp track along with others indoor, but indoor is over so outdoor we go pretty soon. The rear wheel always pops off the ground(which wheel depends on which way you turn). Like the real late models. If i can race on the dirt oval , i will.

This is the car i have been working on. The H-Crawler needs parts to actually move any farther. The track car needs a good motor can...

Update:

Just some shots of what it is now.

Upgrades:
-mamba micro pro(5400kv)
-losi ball diff
-dual disk slipper
-silver heatsink for the 5400kv
-Exotek LM PRO Chassis(Carbon fiber )
-hs85mg with a custom servo saver/horn
-titanium turnbuckles
-MIP CVDS
-Had aluminum rear hubs (bearing got messed up and i can't get the bearing out so i got one plastic and 1 alum.)
-Late model Shock w/100wt(that's what came stock so i stuck with it, i'll need to look into some better weight)
-custom drivers nerf bar(the exotek chassis didn't have holes for it)
-14t and 16t alum pinion gear(16t on )
-street meats rear

thanks

Thanks man.

Update:

I made a protective cover for the bottom of the chassis and it goes from the front to the back then nerf bar to nerf so dirt and rocks don't fly up into the chassis.

I needed a way to keep the battery from flying up so i took the stock battery bar and drilled and cut it a little then took the front bace(above servo) off and screwed some antenna holder that came with the kit into it. I used the dremmel to cut the other side of the antenna holder so i could mount a body clip . The xmod bushing under it is so there is no wobble and the battery is more secure.

Otherwise i started to mount the receiver and another little ridge(so the battery doesn't wobble back and forth with tape to the chassis.

Left to do:

Just mount the esc and start tuning!

possibly a new body as well.

the last 2 pics i tried to get fancy

thanks

Update:

Went to the races last weekend and finished 1 of 2 races. The first race i got second behind 3 laps from leader and 3rd place was 6 laps behind the leader so there was a big gap. I am the wrecking ball. I am the heaviest vehicle out there(1lb 10.1oz). Anything that touches me flies in the other direction. The second race my servo wasn't centering right since i flipped right at the beginning of the race. I stopped since i couldn't drive like that. I remember the Exotek instructions saying that the hs85mg servo should use the Xray m18t servo saver so i picked up the servo saver. That helped some but wasn't good enough. I then ordered a Driven Productions Draglink. I just got done installing it and it helps alot to. It doesn't center perfect when i turn right but it does when i turn left. I fixed about 90-95% of the problem.

in short:

-Got a Xray m18t servo saver
-DP Draglink
-cleaned and tried to make my CF Chassis cover have no gaps for grass to get in.
-remounted switch and esc with thicker, stronger 2x sided tape.

The Chassis cover pic is just to show the scratches in once 5min race.

Thanks

Almost done with the tear down, clean, and rebuild. I am going to change the shock oil (why they are not installed) and need some new tires. Once i finish those details it is just about ready.

Mounted esc where the stock was. So i have some more shock position options.

heat sink install, Now with artic silver. you can't see the green on the CC anymore.

Meant as a battery post for the battery on the left side of the chassis. It will become a antenna mount.

This is how things are going to be wired:

Servo coming from the back of the servo and mounting right to the receiver(yellow, black ,red). Esc going straight to the receiver.(orange, red, brown). And the switch mounting on the side of the servo and the wires running next to the receiver.

I am going to switch to the new traxxas 2.4. Since it can have 20 model memory and it came with the slash 4x4 and has more tuning options than the losi 2.4. Added bonus: One remote for two cars.

Thanks

Supporting Cow RC and DP, nice! Looks really good now, I've actually been tempted by them everytime I go into the LHS, then I look at my 1/16 Revo VXL They're very nice, very good looking but I can't stand having a brushed RC anymore(unless its the Mini Z, one of my helis or the scaler) so this is a no go. Glad to see you are enjoying it though, the chassis and chassis protection look great! Keep up that good work!

I gotta ask, what do these cost? A guy that runs a die cast collectible store here in town has some of these and was trying to sell them for $250. That seems WAY high to me considering I paid that for my old mini Revo and it is way more bad-*** than one of these cars, although I'd like to have one don't get me wrong.

About $189.

Now Team Associated is making a 4wd version, based on their sc18 chassis design(but stretched).

I love this car, easy to work on, have only broken the rear hub and have made lots of tires into slicks. 2.4 out of the box is nice. Very stable, tight turning radius. Some ground clearance(can be tuned lower) for a on road/ dirt oval car. Would be a great chassis for speed demons.
