well today i got my first gen 1... as i was putting a stage 2 motor in it when i put the screw in the motor mount and a puff of smoke came from the reciever and it quit working entirely.... and any1 help?? plz??

sounds like a very old gen 1 and the receiver blew..u need to get a new one? although im just guessing

its a old corvette chassis (got it from the sticker on the bottom lol) but i bought it from black dragon and he said he only used it a few times, so it mite be old, but its lightly used, and it looks almost brand new.

edit, well i got it all put back together to find i had blown the range =[

Yeah you deffinitly blow your range resistor,you've probably bridge a wire or the antenna. I've never replaced them, but it doesn't seem so hard, you just need to get some new resistors.

ok thanks mycro and c1v1c! i looked om atomicmods and they had a tut on it, i'll see if i can get some new resistors from radio shack tomorrow! thanks guys!

it may be the motor is too overpowering for the gen

why would radioshack sell a upgraded motor thats to powerfull for the car? lol
