Deckerz Project Civic!
Alright so i got this shell from Bondo (thanks man) and started work straight away. I was sad to see the paint go because of colour shift but i will be doing this mettalic silver with a carbon fibre effect roof like a BMW M5.
i plan to get preflebly a set of 350z or Scion wide arches but cut them just so the rear arches are wide, i will make a splitter for the front bumper for better steering. So far with the chassis i have only installed the lowering kit and hard sping all round, not decided on electronics yet. So far with the body i have lightly sanded alot of the paint off, filled in the little hole in the centre of the boot lid and filled in the sun roof too. i have used premium body filler which i find is alot better to use then putty. Also have some 5mm LEDs for it as the holes were already at 5mm, now just to get some tubing to hold them. EDIT:I know the sunroof looks a little chipped in bits but its just where the sand paper has crumbled abit, when i hit it with the scowering pad tomorow it should be very smooth and remove all the little bits. ok so that was the original plan but iv noticed a few projects lately to have these big drag slicks so thats what im going to do. i will get them from my LHS as i need to pop down to get some spray for the super bee project (next week).
i might look a little dumb atm but iv seen on google and youtube videos of a civic hatch with a v8 in it so i thought why not do the same but to a xmods civic coupe. the blower will be lower, just planning a mount for it atm. |

all civics are FWD. but most ppl convert it to RWD when they have a huge motor in it. not sure why. maybe cuz the weight of the motor would make the car drop and with big wide slicks on the front. they might just bind up in the wheel well. also most of the high powerd engines are made for RWD cars so if the car is FWD you wouldnt be able to mount the engine in it at all

UPDATE!
only small but heres a idea of what the back will look like, these are the wheel and tyres that you get in the old superbee and charger kits by revell. the tyres are about half the width of a normal xmods tyre but the centerlines are the optional wheel and are a little wider, still need to get the rubber drag tyres for the back but i think you get the idea so far. couldn't get a good pic, the flash pics were too light and the non flash were too dark. |

people convert their civics to rwd when they put a bigger engine it.
like the mg zs which was originaly a rover 75 or 45 anyway when mg got their hands on it the plan was to make it stronger and put a bigger engine in it but the mustang engine they put in was too big that it would not link up to the front wheels so they sent the power too the rear. thats quite a big car too and civics are smaller but this is not a real car remember so just try focus on the build. |

Yeah ok, considering i belong to 3 honda forums and build honda's i would like ya to prove this one to me.. like i said theres been VERY FEW RWD conversions that are actually like 100% driveable, dragable vehicles.. Most of the famous ones can only run for a short period of time due to heat.. I wasnt saying anything comparing to the build itself just that other guys comments, maybe in the RC world theres RWD civics abudnant (duh) but IRL theres very few.. I mean he said 'most people convert theres to RWD' lol when its really uncommon.. I just dont like false info but goodluck with your build ill be making a thread for my gen1 mustang body modification soon.. first car ive worked in on like 5yr+ and just got my first evo not to long ago..

Was ment to update earlier but here we go.
this is the rear setup used, hard to tell the difference but the metal "pole" (dont know what its called) is the shorter one from the gen1 AWD kit so its narrower. im making some prototype mounts for the rear too, atm its just screwed into some styrene. also got the rear wheels on. suprisingly it has they have no rub on the inside of the wheel well. might still go to 350z arches if i ever get some of the drag tyres. all for now...... |
