cheap rustler mods
well comeing this summer im going to race the electric rustler with axail crawler running gear and a 20 turn motor with a 3600 stick packthat i got from my lhs for 50 bucks when i sold my helicopter and i still have a 50 dollar credit there, and im wondering what cheap mods i can do to the little bugger, any ideas are appresiated (sp?)
also the key points to take care of and common problems, now just so this doesnt come up ive been useing the search button for the past 40 mins and havent found anything so now im starting this thread, and please no one go flaming that i was such the savage guy, well i still am and im gonna get back to them once i get my old job back in late spring early summer. so guys anything is good the more info i have on this thing the better! edit: it also has a cheap hpi sf-2 steering servo.

ok anything else? i also know i need camber upper amrs so ill be able to ajust the camber in the truck, but are there any common problems i should look out for?

Not really. Both the Stampede and Rustler are pretty solid platforms. I'd suggest purchasing a new set of tires, however. The stockers aren't exactly race quality tires, just like any other first pair that comes with a RTR truck.

If you want to go all out, do like I did with my Slash and buy a Sidewinder or Mamba brushless system. Don't buy a VXL motor and ESC, the motor is good but the ESC is not. And it cannot actually hit 70 mph unless you gear it up a lot and run top of the line batteries. I get almost 50 mph on a 7cell 4500mAh NiMH battery. But as for cheap upgrades, stick with stock plastic until you break something(which is hard even for me how I bash my trucks) then switch to RPM not aluminum, aluminum will have a lot less give and RPM seems to hold up to just about anything. Get some better tires. You won't get a lot of grip with the stockers.

well i was looking into a set od hpi spike rims and maybe a set of jc concepts goosebump tires ill see if i can get a link to them
