Go to the Xmods FAQ section of the forum; your answer is in many threads.
Please use the search feature before asking a question that has been answered many, many times before. Cheers, Kyle.

As donzii said please at least make an effort to search before posting questions that have been answered many times before....
Stock XMODS run 4 cells typically 1.2 volts each if your using the stock RS rechargeables, so 1.2 x 4 = 4.8 volts But a lot of people upgrade to 6 cells so the sum becomes 1.2 x 6 = 7.2 volts Which is the maximum recommended voltage for Gen1 and Evo boards. I once ran 8 cells in a gen1 so: 1.2 x 8 = 9.6 volts The car worked fine but got super hot so this is pushing the board to its limits!! Note. that if you use batteries that are 1.5 volts you are still safe to run a 6 cell (1.5 x 6 = 9 volts) but you really are pushing a stock board to it limits so I wouldnt recommend this setup on a Gen1 as they are typically weaker than the evo board.
