If you are stacking stock fets then you just put them over the originals, If you are stacking upgraded fets then I would pull the stock ones out and start fresh.

No, the performance would be messed up. 4 -new- FETs must be soldered into the car. You are much better off getting upgraded FETs. My website sells them, as well as 2X2 ready boards. If you are soldering to an evo make sure you dont mix up the different types of FETs. You can learn more in a tut.

It wouldn't be able to handle anything non-fet stock. Just get upgraded FETs and do it the right way.

I do agree that going with upgraded fets is the way to go, but for those with no cash, stacked stock fets would be an improvement.

I wish people would stop calling them "upgraded FETs." There are better quality FETs that are able to handle larger loads of current. You cant take an FET and rebuild it. If you could, then it would upgraded.
And to answer the original post: Stacking the same type of FETs that are already on the board is kinda pointless, you are better off taking the stock ones off and stacking better quality FETs. That is, assuming that you can solder well enough to do all this work. Oh yeah, and FETs and MOSFETs are the same thing, if anyone thought otherwise. |

Well where are you getting stock FETs from? and if you stack on the old FETs, the old FETs are a little bit worn down. And if you take the FETs off another car you need another set of FETs, right?

Fets will not wear down, and stock fets could come from a junk board (I'm not saying that this is the best route to take, just that it's possible).

I know that it isn't as much performing as better fets, But it's better then a stock board. |

Yea it will allow just a little more current draw to the motor. Ehh, its upgraded or not upgraded for me. Whenever I build a car to sell without 2x2 FETs, I do a 2x1 stack with upgraded FETs. FETs are vital in a performance car to me, just the whole idea of stock just makes me cringe. I guess its a matter of opinion.
I agree with AJB32690. Stacking with stock is pointless.
