Donziikid's Aviation:
Howdy,
As some of you may know I'm also into the flight RC scene with my father and brother. Sadly, I have yet to go flying at the field this season due to weather and a busy schedule, but we still do have quite a few working (and non-working ) planes in our basement and I have flown the helis in our basement. Electric: Piper Cub: We bought this electric Piper Cub at a local swap meet a while back. Fortunatly it was for a very fair price and still unbuilt. Currently running a 15amp brushless ESC and brushless outrunner motor with a Twenty 20C 11.1V 2150mAh LiPo. The 20C discharge has proven to be too much as when I give full power the motor smokes; it's not supposed to do that, but it still runs perfectly. I believe I'm melting the enamle coating off of the pole windings. Specs: Brushless 10amp ESC with 20C LiPo. Xmods under front nose cone for comparison size. Nitro/Gas: Super Cub: One of the latest nitros we've purchased is a 40-size (I think..) Super Cub from Horizon Hobby. The wing span is ninety-five (95") inches.. This beauty is a beast. Running a Saito 65 which can power her hefty weight nicely. Piper Cub: The first nitro plane we bought at a swap meet four years back. Running a Saito Twin with onboard glow for cruising speed. Pictures still to come. Dorthy: One of Horizon Hobby's ARF (almost ready to fly) kits. Running a Tiger 45. Takes off in about five feet.. Pictures still to come. Helicopters: E-Sky Robins 22: Dual electric counter rotating blades. Pictures to come. Comments welcome! Cheers, Kyle.

That plane is huge! I remember going to a local get together once where they were flying the planes out over the lake nearby....all the ones that crashed or ran out of gas landed in the water lol. A boat had to go out and retrieve them. I have always wanted one, but I am really not good at flying them. I stick with my Havoc Heli

You're right, I would. My local field is fourty-five minutes away and we have to pack as much into the back of our MiniVan as we possibly can.. And with planes with a wing span of in excess of ninety-five inches.. that's hard to do. Lol.

The wings are detachable, yes, but the fuselage is still the same length. The fuse. on our largest plane is seventy inches and the wings only seperate into fourty-eight inch sections.. Seventy inches is five feet, so... that's half a mini van.

I'm the only one in my family to not have crashed. My brother's hung one of our trainers in a tree by its nose-wheel; my father's crashed two planes into high voltage power lines, one into a tree on a windy take off and one into the ground by loss of power; I have landed and taken off sucessfully each and every time. However, I have had a few close encounters due to poor choices and flying habits, but I've never grounded a plane. All of the crashes listed above were done within three years we've been members of Skymasters.

An inexperienced flyer could lose a plane fairly easily, but as long as you stay on top of it and know what direction you're headed, it's easy to keep track of your plane. Also, when you're dealing with certified AMA fields, only a certain number of people are allowed to fly at the same time. I know our field is only allowed to have five planes up at one time, so you have a very slim chance of losing your plane but there's still that chance.
Since our field is in a more rural part of Michigan, there are a lot of tall trees and swampy areas around. Quite a few planes have gone down and not been found; always a sad thing to watch close to $1000 fall from the sky... But it sounds **** cool when it goes "CRUNCH!"

well if they lose one of them and your around theyll offer you 50 bucks to recover it. So i mean it you get one of there crashed planes and fly it there theyll probilly find out... plus its some other guys money he spent alot on it and it would be mean to not return it..

Four years; my dad's been in it since the late seventies/early eighties.
I tend to stay behind the viewfinder of a camera, not in it's path..
