Look at what I was talking about,my soldering iron is not working as it should.
I might go buy a better soldering iron,or buy another tip,or just try to solder with the same tip. Edit: If you see where the old solder is,thats where it doesnt work.It get hot,but not hot enough to melt the solder.

I think it looks terrible which is why you are not getting effective heat transfer. Sand the whole tip down until it shines and then tin it before trying to solder with it. Is that a 25 watt iron?

if he were to take the tip off and place it in flame for long enough i'm sure ll the crap would burn right off, i've had to do that several times, and works fine, it also saves the tip, when there are small scrattches on the tip more resedue tends to hide there, and ou have to keep repeating the process

I'm just going to wait,and get another soldering iron.I want a better one,not just some $9.00 one at RS ...
