I'm thinking it would almost be easier to convert a hobby class radio to this simpler channel. Any ideas on this?

The problem your going to run into with the pot setup is that the stock xmods tx is too simple to be compatible with custom fabrications. I'm not saying that its not possible (in fact, if I was good with electronics, I'd look into it myself), its just going to take alot of time to figure out what to change.

I recently ripped the elecs out of my futaba 3pm (gawd, I feel guilty now) and was looking at stuffing a modified xmod tx system into the shell (including the ball bearing steering wheel) and putting it all back together. If you plan works, then I can just stick the Futaba's pot wires onto the modded xmod tx's newly wired setup.

I have a feeling we could do something similar with the throttle, right?

It seems as easy as plugging the three pin wires that go into a hobby grade rx onto the three wires that connect the receiver to the board, but i assume that its not.

Wouldn't that be nice, though?

I think it had something more to do with the Xmods Rx.

I can't remember who, but waaaaaaay back someone sold Rx conversions that you solderd in place of the gen1 Rx, and it allowed for hobby grade Tx's to be used.

Are you thinking of Brickmodder's BL adapter circuit?

Not sure, got a link? It's been over 2 years since I've seen the piece.

No, it can't be brick's adaptor. That enabled a hobby grade ESC to run on the stock xmod electronics (tx, rx) system...
