Lith-Ion help
I'm new to this Lith-Ion thing and from what I've read i kinda know about them but not much. I just want to know all the materials that i need to get to run a stage 2 motor, Stock FETs and everything. It would also help alot if i could get some links too.
-Thanks in advance |

Howdy and welcome to Xmodsource; just to break the ice. Glad to have you aboard our member-base.
First, we need to know what Xmod you own; EVO or Gen1?

I just purchased the bumblebee from radioshack yesterday and I'm planning on making it a drag car after some work with it. I know how to do most of everything except this. I'm kind of confused about the cells, can someone give me a link to a good priced set? I've seen the Deans wire with the red connectors, do i need anything else?

I'll let SI speak for his own work, but I've sold 1 li-ion pack and 2 LiPo packs before, ask B1G, He's happy. |

Lithium-Ion isn't as popular on the EVO chassis because it's harder to place the cylindrical cells. On the Gen1 chassis it was really easy to take off the stock battery holders and zip-tie two Lithium-Ion cells in their place.
The most common Lithium-Chemistry battery is the AtomicMods.com EVO HD LiPo 2S or the AtomicMods.com EVO HD LiPo 2S2P. However, these two are Lithium Polymer not Lithium Ion and there is a greater risk of problems with LiPo as opposed to LiIon. You could, if you wanted, purchase four 320mAh AAA LiIon batteries and wire them into your stock battery holder using this Tutorial. It's the same concept, you'll just be using different batteries. Or, if you'd like, you can purchase the batteries for that above tutorial at JawDropRacing.com It's the fifth and sixth from the bottom. Hope this helps with your LithiumIon question and how to install!

Well, tell me what type of battery i should get for this type of xmod. Stage 2 motor, locked differential, XI V2 turbo upgrade, and a 9v electronic NOS after I get my new batteries. Built for drag, mainly looking for half acceleration and half speed, you can forget about the steering for now. I just read up on FETs and External Turbos on another thread, do i really need to get an aftermarket version of those?

LithiumPolymer will last longer and give you a greater punch than that of a LithiumIon. An upgraded battery will not tamper with your balance of speed and acceleration, it will just make both of them a lot faster than alkaline/NiMH. Since you're sticking with a Stage Two motor, an upgraded External Turbo or FETs is not needed. They will help and allow you to use a faster motor, but they're not needed with a Stage Two motor.

It would do something, just not anything noticable. With a Lithium-Chemistry battery it is just not needed.

That way I know you won't back out from buying it, because then I'm stuck with it. If you're serious about buying, PM me, and we'll talk from there. |

not sure about the NOS but just steer clear of it. If you want, i can also install any electronics upgrade (except for fets) and build and install a li-po pack or just install one, you choose. Pick your mAh and your configuration and that will determine the price. a 2S2P setup will cost more but run times will be increased. I reccomend using a single 2-cell lipo mounted on top. Your not going to want a higher mAh battery because with drag racing, heat builds up fast and you need to cool your car. If you want, PM me and we can work out a price
