1970 Mustang

Going this evening to check out this ad I have been watching on Craigslist. He was originally asking 8k, but the guy really needs the cash and just dropped it to 5k obo. Figure I can get him down to about 4k cash. Wish me luck

i have a 1970 mustang with a strait 6 and fresh tranny rebuilt less than 500 miles ago, brand new white paint (1 week old) with 2 silver racing stripes, new tires, nice 5 spoke mustang rims and new interior (headliner, seats, dash cluster, dash pad, ignition) clear title , runs great and ready to go. car also has a 69 front end on it with the four headlights.

When I was 16, my father took me to look at a 1971 painted like a Mach 1 w/ not a speck of rust.

I told him I didn't want it. I didn't get my first car until 4 yrs. later. What a moron I was.

So here she is. Bought her for $4000, and hes throwing in all the spare parts he has for her. Runs very nice for still having the original motor, v6 automatic. Probably going to swap that out for a Windsor v8 soon, which wont cost much, but will give a huge power boost. I was honestly shocked to find most of original car intact, including the rear mustang logo, and all the interior console in working order. I don't like that they put in a new model stereo with CD, but I am old school and will quickly swap that out for a stock radio. Here's a few photos I snapped while putting down a deposit (I pick the car up Thursday).

Overall she looks pretty decent.
How is the underside? Rusty? Also how much of the body is still original, did you do the old magnet test??
I wouldn't rush into the windsor swap may as well wait until gas prices drop

There was surprisingly little bondo work done, but then I guess that's the benefit of living in the desert; not much rust. The underside isn't bad, the frame has some surface rust but nothing to worry about. He has replaced the exhaust recently, as well as the fuel pan.

I hear ya about the gas prices, but then we have our 'family' car, a Ford Escape, as well as a Ram v8 for hauling horses and hay. I forgot how it feels to drive a classic muscle car; The cars today just don't compare. Plus no power steering is great for the upper body :P

Glad to see another mustang on the forum and it looks to be in great shape. I really like that color scheme and the wheels. How many miles are on it? But overall great find hope you enjoy driving it.

Yeah, can't help but feel like I robbed the guy. Good thing I sold my conscience years ago As for the miles, the odometer reads 49k, but there's no way that's right. Still running on the original motor though.

The interior is sick, but does need some touch ups. The window crank needs replaced, the passenger side door lock knob is missing, few other small things. Nothing I can't replace in the local scrap yard. And from the research I did, I believe those are the original rims, or rather they are the classic style rims for a mustang circa 1965-1970. Now, how do I tell my wife the carport can no longer be used to store horse stuff and hay...

I guess you never know it could be original miles which would be nice but then again 149K on a 40 year old car definately isn't bad. If you run into any problems or questions its always good to check out mustangforums.com they are really helpful. I have had trans problems alot and they always help.
