Default August '08-'09 Buildoff 1967 Ford Mustang

I decided i would enter this buildoff but i have no intention on winning. This buildoff will probably be the one that has the least done i am only 16 and don't have a job so my fundings are pretty poor.Constructive criticism is always helpful. There has been little done to the car but its getting there.
Well its a 1967 Ford Mustang
289 V8
Automatic
So far it has had
Dual flowmasters put on recently
New silinoid
Hood-firewall wheater stripping
Turn signal lever
Dome light lens
New reverse light kit

Not much done to it but its a work in progress

Those are all older pictures will try to take new ones as soon as i can.
Sad to say that on 3-31-08 it had a fuel leak and shot gas onto the motor as it was being started and of course caught fire.
Luckily it was put out and not much damage to the engine occured but needless to say now there is a fire extingusher in the car at all times.

There isn't that long of a parts list that i can think of getting but here it is.
American Racing Vintage Torq-Thrust II Wheels
California special hood with turn indicators
Maybe a black vinyl top not sure
Hood pins and lanyard kit
Remove passenger side mirror
Better audio
Paint Air cleaner housing

Well thats basically it feel free to ask any questions and opinions are welcome as well.

I have a short youtube video of the flowmasters if anyones intrested in hearing how it sounds.

You should be proud of that thing, my uncle has two 67's ( a convertible and a regular one) and neither of his are even nearly as clean as yours (at least the outside of yours)...

You got a nice machine there, especially since it doesnt seem to have rust issues (right now dont know if you patched them up or if it really is in prestine condition...)

Thanks man the outside is the clean part the engine is what has the most problems but so far its mainly been minor problems. As for the rust its got some but its on the frame so its not so much noticable in the pictures.

Ya i was originally planning on it but i got to thinking they would have to fill the holes from where it was or get a whole new truck lid and then paint it it would be pretty expensive. So i think i'm going to get the smaller things first since theres really nothing wrong with it. I would perfer not to have one but since its in pretty good shape it will stay for now.

Ya i would like to take it off but i don't have any connections for the bondo primer or paint. It would probably be close to $400 dollars just to paint not to mention the filling of the trunk. But i think the thing i want next for it is the hood pins.

But i hope to be adding another video soon but i will only use my sister's camera it has the best quality.

Well here goes the first update not much but atleast its something. Well everytime i went into the garage and looked under the hood i was always reminded by the ugly burnt air housing. So i thought that it would take to long to get it prepared for paint and then finally painting it. So i got on ebay and found one that was perfect and not too far either so shipping was fast. Well here it is in before and after.

Before the new air housing. All ugly and burnt

The new air housing that i got.

The housing i got originally came off a 67-68 302. Was striped and powder coated Ford blue.

My brother in law owns seven mustangs, once of which is a 67.

They are kept in a large garage, and still a few are in rougher condition then yours. Good work. Your car already wins imho.

Not to thread jack, but he has two '71's (ones a Mach1), a '67, a '64.5, a '93 track car, a '95 GT DD (last year with the 5.0), and a '69.

He also has a '57 Chevy which is mint except the door handle on the drivers side, and a CUCV with a serious lift kit.

Thats ok it will get back on topic next update but i don't know when that will be. As for my family I have the 67 coupe, my mom has a 2001 roush convertible, sister has a 98 coupe, and my oldest sister is looking for one right now but it will be awhile.

Looks good though, bet you enjoy driving it.

Once my wife is done with school (Vet Tech II), I want to spend a little over a grand and get an early Fox Body ('87ish) with the recessed headlights. Want a crappy body but a solid motor, maybe swapped from a mid 90's HO. Want to make it an SCCA whore. :-) Venture to bet less then a tenth of modded mustangs can take the twisties, think it'd be funner then a straight line racer.

Anyways, I defintly am bookmarking this. Slow builds are the ones worth doing.

Well not very much of an update but just want people to know this build hasn't completely died down. But as of know the car will be gone for about a week and a half for some repairs. So no pictures sorry but its getting some new parts.
New radiator old one had a hole in the bottom so it had a constant leak.
New transmission line old one snapped while taking the old radiator out.
Some seals for the transmission.
Also i'm finally getting my gauge lights installed so at night the gauges almost match the car.

And was originally thinking about sequential tail lights but since the ones I found were around $160.00. I decided that Next i'm saving up for a 4bbl carburator so with the right stuff it can get to about 270hp.

They are L.E.D lights that go in the original gauges. I got them off ebay a while back they go directly in like the stock ones and don't get as hot as the original bulbs so they last alot longer. And I was still deciding about the tail lights because i have seen them and they look awesome. But one of my retarded friends at school keeps acting like he could beat me in a race with his 89 s-10 blazer (nothing compared to suicide_star's) just because its a v6 and he added like 2 things to it. And I wanted to get the 4bbl carburator so it would shut him up for good. But I won't race him anyways so I might wait on the carburator.

i hate smart mouth little kids lol. Not even worth racing, if you win they just make excuses. you lose you have to hear about it forever...

Id say tail lights

i posted a video of mine on my camaro in my build thread. I just havnt put in the new flasher yet, so the turn signals are all goofy.

Ya I will probably go with those because I watched both your videos and I really like the way they look and it also sounds great. And it would still be cheaper than the carburator. So thanks I just decided to go with the lights instead so now my future plans list is in this order.
Sequential tail lights
Turn signal hood
And eventually after I have saved 1200 bucks I want some American Torq Thrust II's with the back tires a little wider.

Don't underestimate the 4.3L V6 if that's what he's got. If it's the 2.8 it won't stand a chance.

How much did you spend on the lights? I just bought some off Superbrightleds.com for the CST10s running lights, 79 cents a piece plus 5 shipping. Dirt cheap for leds that fight right in the peanut bulb socket.
