My first project
Well, i decided I want to get back into xmods, and why not start things off with a project. Right here i am planning a civic/skyline build, both were old broken/missing parts bodies so i cut them in half. I have the front end of a civic, and rear of a skyline.
To Do List: Lower car [x] cut rear springs [x] paint rims [x] put car together [x] fix front fenders [x] widebody kit [] paint [] mount custom hood [] Total money spent so far: 28.63 on the chassis left rear spring cut waiting to do right body Last edited by austin2112; 06-01-2010 at 08:20 PM.. |

first of all welcome to the forum, and second of all nice work so far, the body does look a little beat, but it seems to have a lot of potential. One thing I would insist is that cutting the springs on a Gen 1 is not a good thing to do. First off it kills traction because it throws your camber way off and second of all lowering the car can be done much easier with a body mod

Thanks guys, im going to the hobby shop tomorrow to pick up some puddy, paint and styrene and see if they stock any xmod parts. I know cutting the springs is a stupid idea, it dosent drive as well but this car isnt intended to be for racing or anything. Im scrathing the motor off my list and im just going to make it like a show car, as im ordering a evo gtr soon for driving.
oh and also cutting the springs wasnt intended to lower the car, i already did the car lowering mod, it was to give the wheels that bent in look? whatever its called, i think negative camber :P |

Thanks. I have a few questions, 1. how on earth do i fill up the whole where i tore off part of my fender to make room for the wheel? 2. anyone link me to a good painting tut? 3. how should i go at this widebody? im thinking of putting a layer, sanding, another layer, sand and so on until i get it at a nice width then adding details. good plan?

1 & 3. Use styrene. These can be anything from the ones you get at the hobby store to used gift cards or credit cards. Cut them up and glue them on to use as bases. This way the putty is less prone to cracking and you end up using less with better shapes with the help of the styrene support.
