They have been around for a couple years. I think we had this discussion a few times. I was gonna get one but never did.

Yeah I have 2 so does Zippo ours are the NASCAR ones.
I think at some point Surgeon owned one but he might have blown out the boards. They are Mini-Z MR-015 clones you can buy Mini-Z parts and upgrades for them, convert them run AAA rather AA batteries, the ESC is fairly decent, for example putting the Stock-R motor in them makes them good fun. I had a bunch of plans for mine but no money meant no progress and now that I have the 1:10 TT-01 I dont spend a whole lot of time on my smaller scale cars.

I had bought one of these years back when they were new at Wally's for $60. To this date I've never driven it but it looks like a larger proportioned Mini-Z MR-01. Heard good things but they run on AA's as was mentioned before.
Biggest thing IMO is you can run a model body easily with such a wide wheelbase. But, they never told you how to get model car wheels on there. |

I bought a few of them a while back from walmart for about $20.
One of them I switched to run on AAA cells and I shrunk it down and ran some miniZ mr02 parts on, here is the full build:http://ripper7racing.com/r7rforums/s...ead.php?t=3490 sorry if I'm not allowed to link other forums. I have also tried Li-ions in one, the board seems to shut down if you run over 8v. I don't know if it was just that particular pcb, but I didn't try it on another one.At least the board didn't fry though. When I ran li-ion cells(2) that weren't fully charged, it ran fine and was quite faster. You can also run the pcb on an Xmod, although the board is quite large and bulky. It will fit and is much better than the stock pcb, I currently have one installed in my son's xmod. The servo motor from the RPMZ is also a direct fit in an xmod. It has a brass pinon on it and seems to be stronger as well.

I need to start up my rpmz project again, I found a perfect body to fit it but I never got around to mounting it.

I never got to find out how hot of a motor the stock mosfets can handle, I was interested in trying to race it in a stock class against mr-02 and iwaver, but since it wasn't working with our lap timing system(Ilap) I abandoned the project. It would be nice to have another spare car for guests to drive on my personal home practice track(nobody's using my miniZs!) so I'll have to finally finish the revell.

For driving around the living room, or in a strait line across the kitchen floor they are fine. Even for driving an over-powered lithium xmod in a smooth parking lot, the stock controller and pcb will do the trick. I even like how the stock controller folds up and fit in your pocket. But, as soon as you try and drive your xmod on a complicated RCP layout, or drive it on any track against a miniZ, you realize how truly bad the xmod electronics are. I'm just saying if you put a hobby grade pcb in an xmod it's a totally different driving experience, you wouldn't be sorry you did it. Besides having better control, who wouldn't want to have further range? I had 3 revell rpmZ, but if I only had one I'd leave the pcb inside the rpmZ. They are a fun little car, and even drives a little better on the street than an xmod or miniZ. It's allot of fun to just take 2 stock rpmZ and race them on a little layout in the driveway or garage floor, I used garden hose as barriers. You can bash them a little harder than I would with my more expensive RCs, so bumping, banging, or even putting your buddy into the wall isn't a big deal, in fact it's a blast!
