On the 2wd miniZ the crystal is on the bottow, on the 4wd it's on the top.

For the Zmod, I guess it doesn't matter that much.
I suppose you might be better off with the drive fets on top if you plan on stacking them 3x3 or higher, so the 4wd one might be better for that.
But either one will definitely work.

I always use the 2wd ones. See my thread.. Drift Kng... But acer is right.. If you wanna stack fets the 4wd could be better.. But you can still stack and use the 2wd.

I actually use the 4wd one cause the crystal sticks up

But be warned!!! Some are faulty!!! I've had a total of 3 boards fry for no reason at all and FETs burning while only running Radioshack motors...

All the RV-project boards should have reverse unless you get a faulty one. Check all the traces you can on an RV board before you put it into your car -- seriously, you get what you pay for with these aftermarket PCBs...

Its true. I'm not electronic savy with cars, so when i was installing them they just fried or heated up without warning. Hard to see what's wrong, but if you get a good one its actually really good!! The forward and reverse is great!! I love my RV-Evo xmod

I don't know why other people have been getting bad RV boards.. maybe ametuer soldering etc etc.. ?? I literally have installed dozens of these boards.. LOTS I don't know how many.. I am constantly ordering 3 at a time.. I order 2 a couple weeks ago.. installed them and just ordered 3 more 2 days ago.. I have NEVER had one fry or be faulty. I have been using them for like 2 years constantly.

It shouldn't be too hard to find an actual AM miniZ board for cheep.
Most people with miniZ are converting to 2.4ghz.
I picked up AM miniZ boards for as little as $15 shipped.

I have some Mini-Z boards just PM me if you need one I'm sure we can work something out.

BTW- AM boards are not different for AWD/RWD cars. An MA-010 board is the same as an MR-02. The crystal is not on the opposite side of the board! The board itself is inverted. Or in other words, the AWD board is installed upside down
