Depends on application. Wide open power, any old 4bbl will do. If you need crisp throttle response, G-jet spread bore carbs, multi carb setups, etc are the way to go.

Edelbrocks are the easiest to set up and make run straight out of the box. The are good for daily driving and a have good reliability. They are also jetted for today's fuels. The only down fall on these is the fuel bowel set up, they tend to starve fuel when you start to get the front wheels off the ground.
Quadrajets are OK but good cores are getting hard to find. Since these thing haven't be produced in like 30 years by time you get one rebuilt and jet right you would have been better of buying a edelbrock. Even some of the professionally factory rebuilt ones are not quite right. Also stave fuel with the front end lifting. Holley's are great performance carbs. But they are harder to tune, and require a little experience. They are not as good for daily driving, but are really nice when setup right. They way the bowls are set up on these they do not stare fuel with the front end up. Really there is no best carb just a matter of what your trying to do. |

I actually haven't had a problem with mine yet. She's a 4bl. She's been a whole lot better then the Rotchester that's for sure, and lets say my Holley is meant for a V8 type of engine, not a V6.

For a street car they maybe bad, but for a high CFM race motor, they're hard to beat it seems. But most that I see beeing used are the borderline race versions, and so it has a specific application.

Even in race cars I heard they were junk. Whether it be from metal shavings in the carb to having to them running lean. I don't know tho never used one. So your running the demon on a v6 you got me confused lol

Yessir, 4.3L V6, built by Chevrolet, the TBI crap ripped out and replaced with an edlebrock 4bl intake manifold onto the block, new headers, new valve covers, 350 pistons, new push rods, new valves(intake and exhaust), new rocker arms, valve springs, all of which was recently done, with a new camshaft, and rebuilt the block while I was at it with the 350 Pistons. Why I say 350 Pistons, because I took them out of a Chev. 350 .
So the Demon was choice pick for the engine, suits her well also. Mines not running lean, nor' is she running rich. She's running normally I just have to replace the spark plugs more often to get the best out of the setup. Blade. |
