Default Xmod CF Chassis

***CHECK OUT MY GARAGE THREAD. UPDATED OFTEN WITH NEW CARS AND PARTS
***http://www.xmodsource.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14967

These are some pictures of my CF chassis Im making. These pictures are mockups and are plastic not CF. I have already contact dragonplate about cutting them for me. The order goes in on Nov 15th. I designed several different ideas until I had to go back to simple basics to design the PERFECT CF Chassis. Why is it the best.

1. No extra hardware needed (just the screws you took from the original chassis.

2. Completely adjustable. This one Chassis can adjust just like the original to all the xmod size bodies.

3. AWD or rearwheel drive. (it's open so the driveshaft will pass through.

4. Battery. ANY batteries you choose will fit it. LiPo, Li-Ion, or even the original AAA tray will attach to it.

5. Carbon Fiber/highquality. lightwieght, and keeps the center of gravity low.

All in All I think this design meets EVERYONES needs. I can't wait for dragonplate to finish these up for me. Also the parts are so small that I was able to get 24 sets from one 12"x12" sheet of CF, so the price won't be to bad (definatly not near as much as a stilletto.

Enjoy the Pix.

1. SIDE VIEW

2. BOTTOM VIEW

3. TOP VIEW

4. ANGLE VIEW

5. BOTTOM REAR VIEW

6. BOTTOM FRONT VIEW

7. LITHIUM ION setup

8. LITHIUM POLYMER setup

9. AAA TRAY

10. ADJUSTMENT length

11. MATCHED WITH MY LEXAN BODY

How do you plan on mounting the cylindricals? Also what thickness are you using (MM). Make sure the stability is good, that cross bar looks slightly weak.

Well I didn't drill them out for the mock-up, but it will have 4 1/8" by 1/4" slots cut out (similiar to the stiletto so you can zip tie them on. The LiPo attach by double sided tape, and the AAA tray screws on like normal. (I didnt drill out everything on this mockup, but there will be all the holes drilled by Dragonplate.

The upper tray is 1/16" thick, and the bottom is two 1/16" (1/8") strips attached together except at the ends where they will be 1/16" (this is because the ends that attach to the front and rear of the chassis are offset. (look at the original chassis.

It is very stable, believe me. The plastic itself actually is very stable itself and I can drive this car around fine. The CF will be alot better though. Trust me I have been designing this for awhile (went through about 5 designs till I was pleased with this simple approach) I measured everything one final time before putting it into autocad. I think everyone will be very pleased with this chassis whatever there setup will be. There will actually even be a slot cut out for the ON/OFF switch if you choose to keep it.

If I have left somthingout, let me know before Nov 15th. I maybe able to modify it.

that would be cool. Maybe after I get done with these. I'll work on it.

NO plans for a Gen1 chassis. They already have one. Also I don't even mess with Gen1's anymore. only EVO and miniZ, iwaver and firelap. (1/24)

Looks great so far. I like how you incorporated AWD and the stock tray into the design!

I would like to, and I did design some. But im trying to keep the cost low, and that really adds to the price.

Yeah, I see. What if someone payed for a special order, though?

Any idea on the prices yet?

Definatly not. You have to buy a sheet of CF to cut your stuff from. I cant order less then 24 of one style. If you made one chassis you still have to pay for the whole sheet, and that would be rediculous. I am putting TriX logo on the bottom with decal.

Carbon fiber is light, more resistant, give just enough flex, and it looks awesome...

plastic is way heavier, and there's more plastic on the stock chassis than here is CF on the upgrade chassis

I'm surprised no one has caught this yet, you mounted the stock battery tray onto the bottom of the bottom carbon fiber piece, now go back up and look at the side view of the chassis and look at how low that would hang.. that's not going to work.

Okay go look at a stock chassis. The CF one is the same (the tray attaches to the chassis) and hangs at the same clearance as a stock chassis.
