if you draw a line and cut through with a soldering iron about a 1mm from the line, the plastic will get pushed to the side kind of like a snow plow and snowy street. after its dried use even a good pair of scisors and get them close to the hood and then just snip off the bumpy "plowed" plastic sitting to the side, but make sure you're only cutting off the melted plastic and not the hood. if scissors don't work for you, use pliers, clamp down with the tip so your pliers are more or less 90 degrees to the hood and then bend towards the hole and the melted plastic will come off and the rest (the hood) will be fine. i do it all the time just avoid breathing in all the plastic fumes, do it ouside or just wipe off the soldering iron tip with a papre towel immediatley or the plasstic on the iron will just keep stinking
