As texan said, as long as you can measure a set distance and it is fairly long. you can setup a fairly cheap (but accurate) laser timing system.

The using the time and distance you can easily find out speed.

The problem is getting smooth ground where you can floor it for long distances without going out of range or flipping over or some ****. At this scale there is truly no way of keeping a car going 50+MPH steady. Unless you bump up the stance. in which case your not really an xmod anymore.

Thats the other thing. The definition of an xmod. i mean with $500 you can pretty much put a nitro engine onto a completely remoddled xmods chassis. But is that even an xmod anymore? I think for it to be an xmods it has to run on the standard power source of AAA's batteries., but then what about 5, 6, 7 and so on cell cars with more fetts or external boards modded in. Hell what happens to the cars which are replaced with straight circuitry and no internal except for a go stop switch...?
