Sound system advice?

Yea, I got my first vehicle. It's a 1994 Mazda B3000 3.0L V6 4x4 :-)

Well, I had 2 extra 6x9 speaker boxes so I used them and mounted them in the back, but I was wondering if anyone knew what is the best brand of 6x8 speaker? (yes, 6 by 8, not 6 by 9) They are going in the door and I cant fit a 6x9 in there without having to cut out the grill, but its odd shapped so it would look like crap if I did that. So any suggestions?

I'm going to put 2 subwoofers in the back eventually when I have the money.

b3000, nice a frind of mine had a 84 b2000 that was awesome offroad even tho it was only 2x4

i'd prolly just swap the 6x8s for 6x9s even with tho u have to cut into it a little, and for the subs i'd go with some alpine 10s and a RF amp

I just bought some 6 by 8's, I dont want to cut out the grills on the doors.

They are pioneers, hold on I'll go get the code for them.

EDIT

They are Pioneer 2 way 6x8's model # TS-G6841R, 150w Max, 30w Nomial, 4 ohm independance

deffinately get either 2 10s or 1 12 alpine sub and make sure u get a rockford fosgate amp, they make the best amps out there and alpine is the most respected name in sound systems i have 3 alpine 12s in my truck and they are amazing i love em

Or you can be like me, and piece together Bose speakers from some Cadillacs :P

I had another version of those Pioneer speakers hooked up to a bridged 150 watt amp and they rocked! At high levels of volume I was really impressed so I would say stick with them.

In terms of AMPs and SUBs I would say go for either Rockford Fosgate Punch or Sony Xplode as I have had experience with both of them and have nothing but good to say about them!

Oh and of course If money is no object then I would say go for Alpine all round!!

DRFTKO 04-26-2007 10:41 PM

hope this helps (my choices):

Subs:
1. JL Audio
2. Kicker
3. Rockford Fosgate
4. MTX
5. Audiobahn

amps:
1. Rockford Fosgate (FTW!!! I have one and love it)
2. Kenwood (highly recommended brand by a local car audio shop)
3. MTX
4. Kicker
5. Sony (only the rectangular one, the octagon shaped amp is junk)

as for 6x9's (if you go that route) I would say hands down Pioneer, decently priced and good qaulity for the buck

Supressor 04-29-2007 12:36 AM

lol no one recommends pioneer amps or subs? I'm shocked. The route I want to take when i have the money or come accross a deal i can't refuse is (2) 12" Subs and 1 amp, looking for each sub to be at least 1000w or higher, at least 300 rms each, and a 600 watt 2 channel amp or higher.

noturday 04-29-2007 12:48 AM

i would have suggested pioneer if i didnt have alpine in my truck, i had some pioneer 10s and a 300W amp in my old truck and they hit pretty hard for 10s, but now that i have Alpine and i know what they are capable of i suggest them to everyone that asks

Supressor 05-02-2007 09:11 PM

I can't afford alpine tho lol i have 800 bucks and I'm trying to sell all mystuff to get money for them

This is what I'm going to get, for 400 dollars new (unless otherwise not recomended)
2 kenwood 12" subs (1200w MAX)
2 12" Chrome spinner grills (look like spinner rims)
and a sony xplod 2 channel amp, i believe its 1000 watts?

hows that all sound?

noturday 05-02-2007 09:18 PM

leave off the spinner grilles, those are for pimp my ride, not the real world

civicblack10 05-02-2007 09:23 PM

Yes, i must say JL Audio makes good subs. i have 2 12inch subs and they really pound. even though they are a bit more they are very crisp and smooth sounding.

Maybe I'll sell them and get some money back. i can't buy just the two subs for the price im getting for the 2 subs and 2 grills combined. wierd eh?

noturday 05-06-2007 11:04 PM

that is pretty wierd, but those stores like to throw in extra stuff that they normally cant get rid of like those grilles

kidZim 05-07-2007 12:49 PM

Anything by kenwood or eclipse is good. Some Xplodes are also allright.. but stay far away from Alpine.. I've had nothing but trouble with their stuff.

xmodificationer 05-07-2007 04:08 PM

JL and MTX are the best from what i have expirienced i dont kno if they have thoses sizes tho but if u can i would go with JL!
