Oil in xmod

is it alright to wipe off all of the oil on parts of the zxmods? ex.the driveshaft.

Hmmm Good Question

I'd recomend not to only the oil is their for lube and help with heat especially something like that drive shaft and the oil prevents from parts sticking,

however i think it would be ok to remove some oil since I've noticed that xmods out of the kit sometimes have too much.

lastly give it a whirl remove all the oil and see how your car performs if ya notice an issue due to a lack of lube or something then just add the oil back.

I try to get all the oil out because I live on a gravel road, it doesnt do much to it.

i dont like oily. i tried to take it off but some of it still stays on

I think that just about everything is on an Xmod for a purpose (sp? I'm tired). I wouldn't mess with it, maybe if I had a spare. This could be interesting, if you used a speed checker with a greased vs. ungreased Xmod.

naw its fine degrease everything you can and put a little tiny drop of "3 in 1" oil on the moving parts and bushings..

in my opinion, xmods are best left how you got them and only stick to official mods

yeah its fine to remove it as long as u replace it with some lubricant. i always remove the grease from bearings and moving stuff by spraying on degreaser, let it dry for a while and then put in "3 in 1" oil, its less of a mess and i think it runs smoother and maybe a tad bit faster but im not 100% sure on that. just make sure not to put "3 in 1" oil drops in the motor cause when u run it it shoots out everywhere lol.

You'll learn...

Hi. New here so be nice :-) I degreased my bearings then packed with Phil's Waterproof grease. I also put a dab on the diffs. No problems so far. Any debris that gets around the dog bones I just blow out. I love these little cars, much more advanced than my Associated 12e.

Thoughts on the bearing grease instead of 3 in 1 oil? Thanks!

....i just wiped mine off lol.it doesnent make a difference on my xmod.my new CF driveshaft has no oil.but b4 i just wiped mine off.

Wow! My ten dollar coupon is working wonders toward my xmod nimh mod. FYI...4 AAA nimh seperate $20....xmod 'battery mod' $25 w/8 yes 8 AAA cells PLUS charger...find a 'shack that's closing....LOL

And the grease is holding it's own so far. More to report as more run times increase. Thx -jme

I think bearing grease is to thick "3 in 1" or sewing machine oil is perfect

Phil's Waterproof grease is made for bicycle applications. It's less viscous than automobile bearing grease for sure. Smells great too.
