1st Gen Toyota MR-2
I decided to make a "replica" of my 1986 MR-2
Here are a few pics. here is the vette that was included in the kit. http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...N/P4010009.jpg Here is the MR-2 Body over the xmod chassis http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...N/P4010008.jpg Main Color on. http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...1ION/photo.jpg Close to being complete http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...ION/photo1.jpg I have to finish the pop up lights, the side mirrors and door handles, get the engine/trunk lid on and fix that white on the skirts. The white paint is having a hard time covering the Blue and every coat gets thicker and uglier. So I'm trying Here are all the other parts that come with the kit http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...N/P4010001.jpg on the top left is a wide body, I'm thinking of using it (i've already painted it) I want to see it with out first. and all the "glass", any tips on the glass, should I try and paint it black? |
looking good man. any plans for an interior? only thing throwing me off is the white skirts and bumper. kinda looks out of place. and looks like there was some running.
|
Looks good
please put a little more into your post. short 2 word replies are considered spam, which is against the rules. thanks :) |

Reason behind my white skirts is my actual car, here is a pic of it. Sorry they are huge and will not re-size http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...ON/Car-102.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...ON/Car-101.jpg |
looks good man. you should paint the windows black so you don't have to worry about the interior.
|
looks good so far...with the white, you might as well just sand it off, tape off the car and spray the white...but all in all it looks good...if you can get it right you could use car window tint film or just get the smoke color paint and paint the windows with that...

Tint sounds like a good idea, |
Your project is good so far, but it pains me too see these cars ending up HUGE when converted to xmods or Zs. They should have 86mm wheelbase (RSX size), not 94mm like Civic/Vette/R34/etc. I hate the MRS bodies I bought for that reason, but a MR2/S is better than no MR2.

looking good man! Sanding the white down shouldnt be too hard. Just take your time and mask the blue off. good luck!
|

Has there been any updates to this project? Any more pictures perhaps? |
NOT kyosho Kaze, else I'd be loving it and it would've cost 30$ lol. Its some off-brand that I'm guessing was made based on 1/24s hence being bigger.
One solution is to get EVERYONE to start using 1/24s, but at the same time the bodies would get trashed in couple of races vs couple of years. |
He's right tho, MR-2's wheelbase is much smaller than that of a Vette or R32. But i guess since it is a 1/24 scale and not a 1/28 scale model, then it fits the larger one.
No updates, i will work on it a lil this weekend, right now i'm trying to find some wheels. |
Alright,
got the (pop up) head lights glued in, the skirts painted (blue), the engine lid and spoiler glued in, worked a lil on the body mounts (Front and Rear) Forgot to take pictures. I'll try and remember during lunch today and I should post them when I return to the office. |
Ahh the pics are a little bright - The blue is not that light, although these bright pictures have allowed me to see the imperfections better. Acctually it looks really bad and sloppy. It looks much better in person.
