too fast, too much muscle

well the heater broke upstairs so i can't paint right now, its a little chilly. so while i wait for the parts to show up so i can fix it, i decided i needed a car for the xmf tv car replica comp. so i picked this up on ebay for 15 bucks shipped to my door.

anytime! it's what i'm here for. if you need further construction, i'll be in my office

XMDrifter 02-03-2009 09:20 PM

*end sarcasm*
i can't seem to find any model kits worth doing lately. hope your charger turns out good.

hookie 02-03-2009 10:04 PM

speaking of the charger though, i had a thought to do either a 74 cuda or a 68 roadrunner. anyone been to a hobby store or passed through a body on ebay? i'm thinking getting one rediculously powerful (like the real ones)

zippo855 02-04-2009 09:20 PM

im working on it. this might be a slow process. its going to take a bunch of work to get it right. here's some pics

see the excess crap on here
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1212.jpg
got the blower put together. its crappy though, im thinkin this sucks and will need a repaint. i lined the front up, and the back is off, i lined the back up the front is off. so i lined the front up and glued it. ill work on the back later.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1214.jpg
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1215.jpg
here's the magnificently crappy hood. i dont know if this hood will ride on here unless i glue it in place. see this crap.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1217.jpg
why wouldnt the back of the hood line up with the flow of the body?
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1221.jpg

this is either going to take a bunch of work or end up in the trash. lol.
o well a good challenge every now and then is good.

aznlegolas 02-04-2009 09:22 PM

because cheap engineering is the best engineering.

xmodzracer 02-04-2009 09:48 PM

it probably got hot and warped a bit. it happens to me alot... but you should do the scene after he hits the semi =Þ just throw it at the wall a few times

theoriganalRiD3R1967 02-04-2009 10:14 PM

oh no you touched the body...now you have to wash it (again)...when i have to deal with extra plastic i usually file it off or cut it off with a knife and file it a little if i need to...and for the hood refrain from using a heat gun specialy if its your first time, i recently melted some windows, XXX says hairdryers work, but at the time he was talking about lexan not thick plastic like this.

lol 02-04-2009 10:16 PM

if you don't want it i'll take it and build the model it self. :) Fix the hood with some putty. get me a better pic of the blower. i dont understand what doesnt line up on it

aznlegolas 02-04-2009 10:21 PM

haha, somehow this just reminded me.
i have a 1:28 viper, only half built. something inside me says the awesome model should be sacrificed for even more awesomeness?

xmodzracer 02-04-2009 10:32 PM

uh what?

spitfire 02-04-2009 10:33 PM

Man thats one buetiful car. ashame what happens in the movie

aznlegolas 02-04-2009 10:33 PM

i have a plastic viper model, thinking about tearing it down and converting it

xmodzracer 02-04-2009 10:39 PM

oh ok that works. just make sure you check all your sizes first before you commit the car to anything. last viper i tried to do turned out to have too tight of a cabin area and the plastic supporting the front was too thin to fit around the wheels.

zippo855 04-19-2009 01:12 PM

well this one never made it past planning stage, so i thought this would be a good time to do this car. i am going for a double comp on xmf, member expert buildoff, and the xmf cotm.
got some progress. started throwing some paint on it to see how well it was going to stick to the model. since everything else on this model doesnt fit right, wanted to make sure it was paintable :lmao:

well have had a few obstacles with this. nothing is lining up right. have had to custom fit and trim each piece. here's some pics

ok the piece below the bumper has 2 holes in it. but it doesnt hook to anything. even as a model kit it shows it open. im thinking those pieces might be gone, because imo it look like crap like that. what do you think?
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1769.jpg

forgot to start painting the hood. but got the engine hole cut out. and got it all sanded and fitted. another fun task. its going to just be glued in place as the engine will be sticking through it anyway.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1770.jpg

well heres the roll cage that came with this.... put together it was wider than the car. so it got the chuck smash, and its back in pieces and i am going to build my own roll cage.:lmao:
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1771.jpg

well like i said, this kit sucks. the original blower didnt look right, didnt line up right, the top and bottom of the blower was 2 different shapes. wtf right? so i went rumaging through my old model kits i had built when i was younger. and since back then i only used testors glue, a lot of the models started coming apart. so i can rob pieces. and i found this motor. i know its a for motor, but hey its still a blwoer, and it looks very nice. still not 100% on this motor, im going to see if i can find a hemi with a blower. we will see
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1772.jpg

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1773.jpg

heres a pic of the chassis, and a little mock up of the body. not sure on what wheels yet. but this is the "hot rod" rims with camaro bodykit wheels on the back.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1774.jpg

a little mock up. not sure on ride height yet. but from the movie, and from the pic on the box, this didnt exactly sit any sort of low.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...5/100_1775.jpg

deckerz 04-19-2009 01:23 PM

oh man, you beat me to it, iv got that exact same kit coming to me hehe.
i only needed one spacer for my AMT TF&TF eclipse on extra long setting.
