Micro-T Drift Car *56K = No!*

I'm taking my non-running Micro-T Chassis sporting one of Ripper7's eXo-T chassis's. Really nice stuff. I'm slamming it (the suspension), possibly shortening the shocks for more travel, and taping the tires for drifting. I am also going to need to cut custom steering links becuase of the toe that comes with this amount of lowering.

Below are a tonne of pictures of the planned ride height (SUPER LOW!), as well as about the max travel at each corner. Not much is needed, and there is plenty of droop to help with traction and getting the body to roll to help induce drifts. I may also *attempt* to make roll bars for the front and rear, but I'm not sure yet, or am I sure about the spring rates as off yet, since this car is so light.

Yah, lots and lots of pictures...

This *****in idea needs to be AWD. Awesome if it will be belt driven.

texan_idiot25 08-04-2008 07:08 PM

Why not cut the stock springs?

lower it and stiffen it up.

A guy on R7R made a AWD (I think..) Micro-T, but it was dual motor, and way too heavy.

That, and when/if I get a MR-02, I want two RWD drift platforms, and something to let me learn to drive RWD. I'm used to FWD world.

Kinda the same here. Shouldn't need much travel considering it will be indoor-only, be 2s AAA Li-ion run, and won't need all the travel. Consider how much travel the front end of a Gen1 has, or the travel on a Evo Car. Doesn't need much.

Everyone knows cutting springs makes for a bouncy ride.

If you shorten the shocks, you can run shorter springs, and not worry about bottoming out the suspension. I'm not worried about it tough. If it bottoms out bad, it's just to shorten it or add a bit of rubber to act as a bump stop. But if the bottoming out cuases it to jump, then I'll shorten the shocks.

Have you ever bottomed out the suspension on your Firebird? My CRX hit a manhole cover and bottomed out the suspension. Hurts.

texan_idiot25 08-04-2008 07:16 PM

Only a bouncy ride because they don't put in stiffer shocks ;) Add shock oil with a higher weight.

Not on the FB, but it rides stiff I would probably never notice over large bumps... I can feel paint strips some times though.

Don't have shocks with oil, stock ones.

Paint Strips?

Lol, get oil-filled ones. It's pretty hard to drift RWD in the r/c world.

Can't be as hard as drifting FWD in the real world.

Another Swedish project eh?

Guess what Sweed. I was at this Swedish Resteraunt called Al Johnsons in Door county Wisconsin, and I had some Swedish pancakes with Lingonberries and Swedish meatballs....and it was the most deliscious breakfast I've had in years, lol....

Looks pretty cool so far! Any plans for a body?

Oh, by the way, did you hear who the Pittsburgh Steelers signed? Their second-round draft pick, Limas Sweed. :o

Nope. If I have money, I might pick up a Baja body and shoot it up in like Baby Blue and black...

Oh, but I did find BB cans/endbells for the motor, and I'm probably having Red wind up a motor for me. But I'm stuck on going 2s AAA-Li-Ion, which would be a month (I'm so broke!), or 3s AAA's at 3.6 volts.. OR, if I find money to get two new packs, wire the stock packs up in 2p for longer run time..

Or, I might just run a MM chassis set-up as opposed to RM...

I had my Sweed part first.

*Fresh out of the Labs at SwedishRacing*....

A swedish resteraunt probably does them good, the pancake houses around here doing them crap. Good breakfast, and unlike ham/eggs/bacon/sasauge, it doesn't kill you for a while before it gives some energy.

Sweed. you may have a problem with the dogbones binding because they are too long. just my 2 cents. Good luck. Have fun and it will be awesome.
