BCNR33 Skyline

Ive recently picked up another black R34 from a friend. That would equal three R34s, two black ones, and the four door Blitz that I'm building, but is accumulating dust atm. Personal reasons :P. As well in my possession, I have a calsonic R32..and sometime during December, I'll be obtaining a white body GTR.

Through all this, I've had a yearning to have a collection of Skylines. Of course, there's no way I'll get my hands on a Hakosuka, unless kyosho decides to make it again.

So back on topic, considering the fact that I have two R34s, I've decided to pull something unique with the slightly depreciated skyline and work on towards an R33.

Its a long way from complete, but hey, better than nothing!

Here we have the headlights. N.28

As well, the start of the R33 front using the Top Secret bumper. N.28

And here we have dry fitting of the headlights and the bumper.

and sorry about the long write up. I like to give a little background story, rather than throw random pictures.

oooooo R33??? arguably the least popular skyline :( i still love it....but hey, it looks like you got a good start on the car, i can already see the resemblance on the front. I'm just curious to see how to make the rear end.....good luck :)

4G63punk 12-05-2009 12:09 PM

dang! r33. looks like a nice project! ;)

update!

fixing rear half of r33. still dont know how to go at the tail lights. im thinking styrene and / or putty. im leaning more towards styrene.
and if you noticed, i reshaped the rear window thingy to have more of a shape of the r33.

very nice progress. can't wait to see more.

Tail lights are extremely hard to make. I'll have to do it at the end of this week, where my winter vacation starts. But for future reference, the drill bit for the tail lights is 7/32".

here's what i have so far.

here's my plans for it. the thing isnt up to scale, and the camera angle isnt right, hence the lights arents spaced evenly. but you get the point.

4G63punk 12-13-2009 08:03 PM

I think you should make the rear lights a tad smaller.

Kot 12-13-2009 08:31 PM

@4G63

if anything, the picture that i used on paint won't give a true-to-scale image of how it'll turn out. its just a 'mock up'. and the tail lights ill use are already the size of the small r34 ones. you cant go any smaller.

4G63punk 12-21-2009 03:10 PM

^ that's cool. ;)

Kot 12-22-2009 11:49 PM

slight update.

i need PUTTY :@ i have none left. so now i have 4 gaping holes that are too big for the tail lights.

Update!

Started all ends of the skyline:
headlights and hood

Rear bumper (its higher and closer to the tail lamps)
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...a/DSC05379.jpg
Side skirts (higher body line than stock r34)

Comments & criticism welcome!

Mmm. Hawt stuff, but where are hood lines. :?

Kot 01-24-2010 07:07 PM

^ not yet bro. i wanna do the fenders right after i get the headlight body lines done. plus, i has no blade atm (lost it somewhere) .if i scribe lines first, i fear getting putty as i do the fenders, which will result in another scribing (not that i dont mind, its just that im lazy LOL)

FloydfanYodaman 01-24-2010 09:52 PM

man i thought i commented on this:blush: ...this thing is lookin great...love all the well documented progress pics...its cool watching it transform into what is looking more and more like a reality...and a bad @$$ one at that:nod: ...keep up the great work...color ideas? wheels?

XMDrifter 01-25-2010 12:04 AM

i like this conversion. maybe you could specialize in GTR bodywork and make a service?

Kot 01-30-2010 01:10 AM

@floydfanyodaman: colour might be white (cuz all my project cars are white) or midnight purple (since thats the r33's most common colour). rims may just be the stock xmods skyline rims.

XMDrifter: I would if I could, but I'm a little more into my academics, and I wouldnt want to disappoint since it'll be too time consuming. plus, shipping and things are costly. (I like your GTR proj btw!)

Update-ish.
Finished the hood / front half of fenders, and starting to reshape bumper.
headlights are flushhhhhhhh with the body. (will get a pic of that again another day)
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...a/DSC05392.jpg
i noticed that the headlight body lines dont look as soft & curvy. thats because i didnt sand the inside layer (less than a millimeter) which holds the lights.

family portrait no.2

missing: Shakotan boogie hakosuka!
