January 10'-11' Build Off 67 Mustang
Well here goes another year of slowly building up the car. But its starting off pretty good. Just today got in the new hooker header long tubes.
http://i50.tinypic.com/16lbw5x.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/20k9bio.jpg And another sticker to add to my collection  http://i48.tinypic.com/v41d20.jpg Should be installed pretty soon a guy I know can probably install them pretty cheap. And if I have enough and X pipe will be going on aswell. Might even put on the valve covers that have been sitting in my room for months. However my brakes had recently went out so I installed a new master cylinder but still need to bleed the brake lines there is alot of air in the lines. And I still need to buy a window regulator to get the window fixed. And had a slight fuel leak when I started it the other day so I need to change the hose to prevent another fire. Haha seems there is more wrong with it than working but its slowly getting there. |
Headers- Get el-cheapo gaskets from any store, and seal with copper seal (it's like RTV, but with copper). I've learned expensive gaskets don't do ****! So this is my next step. Few old hotrod friends swear by it. Oh, and make a little drive with no pipes :P
Fuel line- Either go metal, or get EFI hose, it has a heavy duty plastic inner lining that's made to handle extra fuel PSI, but works great as a safety barrier if the rubber chaffs through. Did you bench bleed the MC too? And I'm in that same one-thing-after-another stage  |
I think for the most part was that the clamp on the hose was a little loose and I was showing a friend at the time how loud it was in the garage and gave it two good revs and the fuel started coming out. But the motor wasn't warm so nothing ignited luckily.
I still have some copper silicone from the transmission gaskets so I was thinking that would work fine. And yep bench bled the MC and the pedal still goes to the floor pretty easily so what I will probably end up doing is another bench bleed and then bleed the lines. Because the bench bleed didn't go so well because dad pumped the brake instead of slowly pushing it it so that probably just made it worse not sure. Ya not a very fun stage and can get frustrating but it does keep me plenty busy |
Well I have come to realise it has been way to long since I have updated this. Since my last update:
Installed: Headers Valve covers Sequential taillights Dual speakers to go over the back Waiting installation: New digital radio just needs to be wired up Pictures Engine bay always looks worse with a flash it doesn't look as bad in person. But I will do some deep cleaning soon http://i40.tinypic.com/1zbv2uu.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/143gw1i.jpg Will get radio and speaker pictures tomorrow and just get better picture in general. Was going to take it to prom but in downtown Dallas decided it wasn't a good idea. |
Did you have to do any pounding on your headers to get them to fit. On my camaro we had pound the helll out of one side so it would fit
|
More than likely there would have been but we had it done at a muffler shop. We would have done it but don't have a welder at the house and it means I would have had to run straight headers to the shop and my parents wouldn't have been happy. But today got the rear speakers put in i'll go take a picture real quick.

Little bit of an update:
Well I guess waiting pays off instead of buying my trunk lid new would be well over $100. Well craigslist has been my bestfriend on car parts for a while now. And after about a month of waiting for the right priced trunk lid to pop up it finally did. He had alot of parts for $500 for all. Well gave him a call and he said for the trunk lid and blinker hood would be $25. So took a little over an hour trip to gainesville and brought back these. http://i42.tinypic.com/242a68y.jpg http://i39.tinypic.com/vy8jkh.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/30ksyf6.jpg He also gave me this book from 1966 and its in great condition same book going on ebay for $50.00 and not even as good of shape. So if I were to sell this book I would have made a profit and gotten the hood and trunk. Very pleased and can't wait to get this thing stripped and painted and luggage rack gone. |
Well after a long time of not updating today I spent a nice little drive out to caddo mills and decided to pick up some wheels off craigslist. As my early birthday present :) . Well gonna need some pretty big back spacing to run the backs because i'm going from a 205/70/14 on the back to a 275/50/15 and 195/70/14 in the front. Well the tires are pretty much shot but hold air. So now just time to save up for some pretty expensive tires.
http://i53.tinypic.com/znl8wg.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/m836g0.jpg Originally I wanted torq thrust II's but just about every classic has those now. So i'm going a more retro look with a nice set of slotted mags, Picked up wheels and tires(even though not really usable) but for $75. :D So my day is starting off pretty good. |
Polished slots-mags rock. My dad's old 396 Camaro rocked them back in the day, with the slots accented in red (red Camaro). Bad tires you say? When the time comes, send them to hell with smoke, please :)
|
Ya the front tires aren't even that bad but i need longer studs before the backs will even mount properly. So thats next on my to do list.
|
Gotta love Aluminum Slots. Great looking rims & they are gonna look good on your car.
|
I can't wait to actually have them on. I've always loved the staggered look of wheels but until now I had all 4 the same size which was good for rotating. But they actually have enough tread for probably a month of driving since my tires don't wear down fast at all. So as soon as I find some studs and put them on there will be pictures of them actually mounted on the car.
|
Staggered wheel goodness for you.

Thats even the original color mine was, pretty sure that looks like springtime yellow. But oh it will be staggered now
http://i56.tinypic.com/2vchkas.jpg Little comparison to the old wheels. Then decided to bolt one side on the get the initial look but need two back tires before its safe driving on. Cheapest I found was tirerack for 212.12 shipped. http://i56.tinypic.com/2jazspk.jpg |
Clean, simple and just plain mean. ;) Awesome looking, man.
Cheers, Kyle |

Those rims really do look great on the car.
|
Ya I use to want the torq thrust the most but saw these on craigslist thougth to myself they would look great they are cheap and even have tires. Well my tires are the right size from my old fronts that have brand new tires so just need backs. But overall i'm really pleased for just $75 and like $10 worth of gas. Now I just need some mag wheel polish.
|
got to love the look, imo I would have gone with smaller in the front but you can't complain for the price. On my rims I think 4 inch in the front and 8-9 in in the back
